Hi everybody, Passed my online interview on the 4th April , But now with the virus just a waiting game, They have by seems of it sent off our vetting forms this week and asked our borough choices but yet to complete the medical day. Really excited but got completely no clue when anything further will be going ahead and wondering if anybody else on here is in the same boat. Kind regards.

Hi all, hope everyone is safe and well during this time. I had applied to GMP as a special constable and had passed all of the assessments. Interview, situational judgement test, written exercise, fitness and medical. I was given an offer and a start date. Unfortunately I had moved to London by the time my start date was given as I had waited such a long time for a start. When I moved to London I attended an open day for the Met to ask a few questions regarding applications and if I would need to do everything from the start, assessments etc. I was told that because the specials assessment is the same across all UK forces, I would only have to do the medi…

Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I did have a little search but I couldn't really find anything so any advice would be greatly taken onboard. I work in hospitality as a General Hotel Manager, and I have done since I was 15 (now mid 30's). I'm kind of fortunate that my working week is generally Monday to Friday, 9-5 and it's very flexible even at that. I've always had an interest in joining the Police but the only reason I haven't is because of the poor salary. Some would say, why move when you have it so cushty Monday to Friday 9-5? I guess I just have that ick for wanting to join the Police, and I wouldn't live it down until I was either rejected…

Hello everyone, I am in the vetting process to be a Special for the Met and have been waiting 7 weeks now. I have had an email regarding an update on my application. I have been invited to an online chat session next week. On the email it states it will give me an opportunity to ask any questions I may have regarding my application. I think this is a good chance for me to be able to understand what is expected during training and any other questions I may have. Just wanted to know if anyone else has done this before as I cannot find any information on it, so I am thinking it is a new thing that has been introduced recently. Thank you

Hi, New to the forum. I have stumbled across this forum whilst researching for my online interview to join the specials in Merseyside. After reading a post from a member regarding rejection (possibly to do with giving too much information). I formulated my answers for the 5 questions with a situation for each one. Once logging in and starting my test question it’s states use as many personal examples as you can. Which if I’m honest, that coupled with having to stare at myself recording the answer totally threw me from what I had planned and I backed out of the app as I felt I better ask a few questions first. I have asked a friend (PC) tonask one of his SC…

Ok I’ve had a look around and can’t find anything. Here’s a very brief outline of the issue: Been an SC since 2015. Applied to be a regular, passed everything and started as a probationer. To cut a long story short, it isn’t working for me. I’m doing well, but the impact on me and my family has been immense in ways I (probably foolishly) didn’t anticipate. I’m seriously considering resigning and admitting defeat. Has anyone ever heard of a former SC who joined as a reg and then returned to being an SC? This isn’t a case of me being incapable, just a case of me having made a really bad decision for myself, but not wanting out of the police world altog…

Hi all, I'm new here, so I apologise if this has been addressed before. I'm looking at applying to Cheshire Police Specials, but certain members of my family ( brother and cousin ) have both served time in prison for various things, including drugs possession and violence. I don't have any contact with either of them and haven't for over 4 years. I even went as far as changing my surname when I got married in 2014, so I'm not directly associated with the old family name. I will however declare this on the application form and again at interview if it's desired. Second thing is, I have a £1500 overdraft that I took out to pay for my HGV licence that I'm…

I served as an SC from 1998 to 2015. Now I'm thinking of rejoining, and I know my eyesight will fail the application but... will the fact I'm rejoining mean I can argue against the eyesight requirement? My eyesight fell below the minimum while I served but once you're in they don't really care unless you go blind or apply for a specialist role. I have asked the question of the force, and will post any reply, but wondered if anyone had any experience of this?

Hey, I've been reading through this website extensively since I discovered it a bit over a week ago. I find it absolutely fascinating, especially the stories about peoples first shifts as a special constable! Over the last half a year I have progressed through the process myself and will be attending the final interview on the 29th of this month. Between working full time and helping to look after our one year old son with my partner I've been cramming in preparation whenever possible. I feel that I'm pretty prepared in regards to the competencies and my real life examples of when I've demonstrated them. I have multiple examples ready for each. I have also …

Hi All I'm considering applying to join the police. I am currently a Paramedic and have worked for the ambulance service for the last 6 years but am now considering a change. Does anyone know of any other paramedics that have done the same and kept their paramedic registration or is it a conflict of interest? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
