I noticed this recently and thought it was worth a discussion. 2 years ago they added the whole of s19 PACE to PCSOs, but this seems a huge leap. Could it be that PCSOs are soon to be sent to more jobs, tasked with more, stopping a vehicle and s165 seizing it/issuing the FPN, etc? (I appreciate they would have to use one of their already existing traffic stopping powers rather than this excluded one). I'm not sure if they'll be standard or designated powers. Will they increase their pay or give them further kit? Your thoughts? Wikipedia link The proposed Policing and Crime Bill 2016 sets out dramatic expansions to the role of PCSO. Section 28(4…

When it comes to the police what do you put? I feel this will help new recruits (like myself) not make mistakes when it comes to using social media. Everyone can have a lapse after a long day but what can and can't be put up on social media? For example. Can you post uniform pictures, patrol pictures, put that you work for the police, what you done on shift? Heres a little break down of the internet and social media.... Over 3 billion Internet users. Over 2 billion active social media accounts Over 3 billion mobile users And Over 1 million active mobile social accounts

Just catching up on this from last night. Cheshire police custody have a 20 year old lad in. He was seen on CCTV kicking a lad whilst he was on the floor and then as the guys trying to walk away he follows him continuing to assault/punch him. The custody Sgt charges him with S4 Public Order, stating he's very lucky not to be charged with "affray or assault". How does his actions fit the definition of S4? S4 is all about the fear or provocation of violence not the actual application of violence. Anyone care to help? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, my ten week tutor phase came to an end last week and my first independent shift is tomorrow afternoon! Mixed emotions to be truthful. These past 8 months have gone in a flash and training seems a distant memory... I am looking forward to tomorrow, but I am a little apprehensive to say the least. I still don't feel as if I know enough and I'm constantly reminding myself that I'm actually a bobby! Looking for words of reassurance / encouragement if there are any [emoji12] Sent from my SM-G930F using the Police Community App

Just wondering if there are any Specials who are authorised to fly their police force drones? Hopefully just about to be authorised to do so myself and wondered if there are any others? Also - anyone know what training your force pilots go through if they have the capability? Surrey Police use the Aeryon Skyranger https://www.aeryon.com/aeryon-skyranger. Any other hardware in use out there?

Hello! I completed the assessment centre last month and found out I passed. Having received my report yesterday i was over the moon with a 73% pass score. I was intrigued to know exactly how well others had done percentage wise? I found out today that final interviews will be conducted w/c 16th Jan. Does anyone know how soon after that the fitness test will be done? having recently lost 4 stone (ish) i'm concerned that my BMI will be too high still. To get within the correct BMI level I have about another 2 stone to lose.. with only 6 weeks until the interview and Christmas to contend with I'm now slightly worried about the fitness side …

Looking at many of the threads on the site, the mega changes and difficulties faced by the police service, is it time for a Royal Commission on Policing to have an extensive look at our work, how we are organised, how we protect the public and how we are protected. Money is tight and like most organisations the police need to fin better ways of doing things. I think we need a Royal Commission to independently review policing and perhaps look at the following areas 1. Regionalisation of forces. Although many elements of policing have been amalgamated, can we work more efficiently and bring to bear greater resources by adopting a full regionalisation program, with a mi…

Hi, I am looking to see if anyone can help here in regards to compensation / health insurance payout. I have been signed off work following a shoulder dislocation and rotator cuff injury sustained a few weeks ago. As advised by federation rep, I applied for criminal injury compensation via CICA and today received a letter saying no compensation would be awarded, I am appealing it. After speaking with colleagues, they mentioned the injury/accident policy we have as members of the Police. I am aware of an ex-colleague receiving a four figure sum following breaking an arm by falling during a struggle apprehending a suspect. Does anyone have any i…

Hi all, I need some useful advice from someone who knows please without guessing or assuming. Trying to cut long story short. They said this to me, 2 weeks before my training date. They said they found a ccj and I need to pay them before they can proceed with my application. I said it was a debt under dispute, not a ccj. It was a default. Anyway, I paid it in full, they wanted to see proof that I paid, so I did just that. Soon as they rreceived the proof that I payed and showed them the receipt, they said they still weren't in a position to keep my application open and are closing it. When I challenged them, they turned round and …

Ive recently joined as a PC but i am thinking of opting out for the first 6 months to manage my finances. There are the obvious negatives of missing out on 6 months pension and payment if dying on duty. Does anyone know anymore about it and any other negatives of optong out for an amount of time?

Force's in England and Wales are going to a 'national uniform' so I have heard, us in Lancs have received new caps, fleeces and tshirts, the fleece's are identical to those GMP are now issuing, anyone else know of any uniform that is changing? Anyone know which force's haven't agreed to sign up to this, if any? (probs the Met)

After sailing through the entire recruitment process and getting ready to put my feet up and wait for vetting, my application has been rejected on medical grounds due to the very poorly timed discovery that I have a heart condition. I've spoken to my force occupational health dept. and they have agreed to reconsider and speak to my cardiologist who has no concerns regarding my ability to join - I'm very fit and healthy, it was a chance discovery that could have gone unnoticed for another 30+ years. I'm not holding my breath though and I'm bracing myself for rejection and given that there's no cure (other than a heart transplant!) it will mean that I can't ever…
