Well, it's that time of year that the annual Brooklands emergency services day is almost upon us. If you've not been before it's a great event to go to (and take your family too). This year will see policing contingents from Surrey, BTP, Met, and RMP. This is alongside every other responder service including Ambulance, Fire, Search and Rescue, Bloodbikers, and many more. Im thinking of joining the Met when im 20 or hopefully even 19. I am currently in the cadets. Anyway i was just wondering what the uniform is like. i know they have introduced these wicking shirts ( yes they have been around a while i know) but have they completely replaced the originial short sleeve shirt or can you still get issued with the traditional short sleeved shirt. i know they have kept the original long sleeves but im interested in the whole thing about the short sleeved shirt Also i was thinking of not wearing my cargo trousers too much as they are generally very scruffy. is it possible to ask for more pairs of tunic trousers or are you able t…

As a part of my Citizenship coursework, I have been advised to research the general impact (of effectiveness)that the police has on our society. Its undeniable that factors such as the low, limited budget the police are offered by the government and the fact that most crimes do not even get reported give the police a bad reputation. However, I am more interested in your opinions. Any contribution or idea will help tremendously. Thank you.

I appreciate it may not be fully police related but I've recently moved into an address. Opposite from me, parked on a public road in the parking bays (taking up two parking spaces) is an old land rover with two flat tyres and full to the roof with junk / old property. I've phoned the council who confirm the vehicle is SORN. The council have been up twice and put a notice on the window, which has caused the owner to come forward and state they will move the vehicle. That was 3 weeks ago! Phoned the DVLA who were absolute no help at all. Their reply was "if it's been reported, we will get round to it." When I said "so I may have to wait another 3 - 4 months for this vehicl…

I've done some searching on the web and I can't really find the answers I'm looking for... Obviously the pre-April 2013 pay scales for constables were much different to how they look now, but I don't really understand why they changed? The message from those in charge at the time was along the lines of "the a new structure will allow officers to move up the scale quicker". Was it merely a cost saving effort by the government? Was it alligned with current rates of inflation at the time? I occasionally feel hard done by when I compare my currently salary with what I could have been earning if I'd joined 4 years ago... And when I'm doing the same job as my colleagues …

Recently I took a statement for a lady who had been receiving some fairly nasty threats over Facebook messenger. I included all points to prove for TTK but was unsure about ADVOKATE on the end. My reason for confusion is as such; ADVOKATE are identification principles included at the end of a statement as a way to ID an offender. But if the offender is ID'd by their facebook profile and is known to the victim through an online connection does it need to be done? I must admit I didn't include it, although it would have been more sensible to play it safe and put it in any way.

Hello, If an adult over the age of 18 cuts of all contact with their relatives and is reported by them as missing and the police locate you, what are the police legally obligated to tell your relatives when they find you are safe and well? Are they legally required to tell them you're in the UK? I'd prefer my family not even know I am in the UK anymore but I don't think they police would be allowed to tell them a lie, so what are they legally required to tell my relatives once they've located me and I'm safe and well? Hi I note the penalty for using a mobile phone is now 6 points and 200 pound fine . 1) if somebody for example is using another hand held electronic device does this attract the same penalty? 2) has the penalty changed for a person supervising a learner driver change if there on the phone? regards Martin
