Hi There, I will be having my basic driving test soon to drive Police vehicles A to B. I'm just wondering what I should expect and whether a competent and confident approach should suffice? I'm expecting a sort of relaxed/watered down version of the initial driving test we all take.... Any light shed would be appreciated.

A few recent articles regarding the cuts have quotes which point to a possible change in the Home Office's stance on police funding. It isn't very clear but hopefully the Chief's that they are apparently consulting with, will tell them the truth, and they will be listened to at long last (unlikely as the Gov seem to have their fingers in their ears). The quotes read as "we didn't make a mistake by cutting police budgets, it's just that times have changed and terrorism is eating up resources". Hello, I'm organising an event in West Dorset on 29th July. It's a policing competition for cadets and although we've got quite a few staff we could do with some extra role players for the day to take on various acting positions for the scenarios. Police Officers/Staff/Volunteers only I'm afraid (for obvious safety reasons). If you're free and in the area and fancy a fun day scaring cadets please drop me a message. Tasking - How much is too much? As a Responce officer, I carry no crimes to investigate... I attend calls for service, establish if a crime has been committed, arrest if nessessary and gather evidence. I then creat the crime report and task it to be quality checked... It then gets allocated to a uniformed officer or to CID to investigate depending on the complexity. From time to time I like to check on the progress of an investigation I have been involved in. I feel the use of audio visual aids greatly enhance one's understanding of how to handcuff a suspect. I found this really good though brief one on YouTube and can't thank this guy enough LOL. Please comment on the use of techniques as I'm using it to revise for OST; thanks. 1. Hi all, just been given my start date with Lancs and wondered if anyone could tell me how much choice we have on where we're posted. I put my preferences in my application form and have a young family so would ideally like to be in Blackpool, which leads me onto my second question Are we allowed to work in the same city we live in or is just a personal choice there?

Not wishing to take the other thread further off topic Is successful policing about arresting people? Or looking at alternatives that may bring about the same conclusion? I remember a conversation where a Regular officer in company with a Special picked up another Special to take them somewhere. This Specials first comment was ' So how many people have you arrested then? Dear All, Any help/advice you can give me with this will be greatly appreciated. I am a uniformed regular Inspector currently running two frontline intervention teams across two CSP's. I have a number of specials who frequently work alongside our shift and I am very grateful for the support they give. However, I most frequently see them on public order shifts which is absolutely fine- (it's nice to have the whole team in the van as it brings down social barriers and builds good working relationships).
