Can anyone recall what forces permit PNC access by completing an NCALT? There was a discussion on the old site that I can't find...

When off duty and officers are on a night out, how do you deal with crimes that may arise? You see someone doing drugs or a bouncer assaulting someone, will you call for the on-duty and assist them or just leave it? Also, how do you deal with friends that do things illegal?

Hi everyone. As in my previous posts, I watch a lot of cop shows and my conclusion is that the police only carry out the law when it suits them!. For example on a show I watched the offender was issued with a fixed penalty ticket by a police officer because he urinated against a shop window, yet on another show the offender did it against a bin in a public place and was allowed on his way - both off which were witnessed by a police officer and captured on film, yet both treated differently. Can anyone explain this?

Just wanted to clarify something that I was told as a Special a long time ago in a galaxy far far away I was always taught throughout training that use of force should be necessary and proportionate to the amount of force being offered, however when on division I was told that the threshold for using spray is; "STAY THERE AND KEEP YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM" "DO ONE" (or something along those lines) What are your opinions on when is appropriate to use spray? Now, I know we all live with TLAs (three letter acronyms ) every day, but there a loads on here that I don't know. I'm sure I'm not the only one either. I recently applied for a constable position and have been rejected due to a driving without due care and attention conviction I recieved in 2013. I recieved 9 points on my licence which have since expired. I crashed my van because of an improperly secured load in the back shifted whilst driving. The irony is that I wasn't the one that loaded or secured the load but I soon found out as the driver it was my responsibility to check. So it appears as though there may be a complaint put in to the Met for not understanding the law; failing to take a complaint for a (hate) 'crime in progress' and mistaking the 'Hezbollah' flag for one of a state: Are there any offences committed, given the flag may have caused alarm/distress? Was catching up on The Force:Essex this morning and one of the things that caught my ear was when a drug driver was locked up "on suspicion of section 5a RTA" rather than "on suspicion of drug driving". It all means the same but doesn't it make more sense to call a spade a spade and avoid having to explain what s5 RTA is? I can understand a bit more s5 POA, where it's a mouthful to explain, especially when someone's kicking off in a s5 POA kinda way. But does this kind of thing grate anyone else? I was watching the new tv series as titled above & noticed an officer of the Lancashire constabulary had an insignia on his sleeve & back that I've not seen before.Could someone please enlighten me as to what it's significance is?
