Long shot and I'm guessing it's a no due to the nature of it all.. Has anybody ever moved to or from the intelligence services into or from police? Any advice for someone that might want to do the same? Obviously not expecting much of a reply as it's not something you shout about but worth an ask. Cheers.

GMP Pensions and pay are paid through Kier, who provide the payment services. Usually paid on the 1st of the month. If that falls on a Saturday or Sunday then the payment notification is made on the Friday before. For some unknown reason the present payment due on the 1st January has not been made. No I have not died yet. On ringing Kier the message that you get is "Blue zone not available" I was just wondering if any others paid through Kier were having the same problem? I start my training as a special next week which is incredibly exciting HOWEVER, I've never been very good at fighting! All throughout school I avoided fights and scuffles etc like the plague, a few months ago my girlfriend and I got assaulted and I ended up being punched a fair number of times by a 6'4" brick out house... I'm worried that when I'm involved in attempting to restrain a violent suspect I will be more of a hinderence to my colleagues than an actual benefit! I have never been involved in any boxing, martial arts or similar. Big question is will the training teach me what to do to a competent level or do I need to look at some extra classes? …

I'm currently on a specials intake and have been assigned to a station not too far from me. It discusses possible new pay structure for officers and ideas for the police roles, including an advanced practitioner role. . Has anyone undertaken BSL classes in their spare time to help them stand out when applying for the regulars? I'm thinking of doing CKP and BSL to help me become a better candidate
