In short: Is it possible for me to do 1 week's worth of work experience for my College course with my local force? ---------------------------------------- Hello Everyone, I've recently started College and as part of the College course all students must complete 1 Week's worth of Work Shadowing/Experience at a placement of their choice. The placement should be completed somewhere appropriate to what the student is interested in as a place of employment in the future. Well, i'm hoping to work for the Police Service in the future as a Police Constable and was wondering whether anyone knows or has knew of students in a similar position that have completed something like t…

Hello Is anyone part of or aware of their Force running a sort of specialist role within the Special Constabulary dealing specifically with rural crime? I heard that Hertfordshire has set up 'Rural' Specials, as well as 'Mounted Rural' Specials, and Norfolk has set up a 'Specials on horseback scheme'. Before I left Nottinghamshire last year I know they were thinking about creating Rural Specials and I see JBTINEGATE posted a topic about it starting off in Newark ( I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread). So my question is, what was the idea behind your force setting it up (increased rural crime?), what extra training do you get (wildlife crime, sheep/cattle markings, …

I have my basic driving assessment coming up next month. Any one have any tips for the actual driving assessment? Like what should I expect and how long I would be actually driving for? Not going to lie but I hate parallel parking, and I've never driven a car bigger than a Fiesta, let alone an estate Focus....

I have heard people, some of whom are serving and ex serving police say they have to use false names on social media and in some cases take their names odd the electional roll. And it got me thinking what about if the police issued all pc will false names on their warrant cards only to be used inconnection with the job. And if a complaint was made etc etc HQ would easily be be able to link the working name with the real person. This could provide a certain amount of protection in everyday life for the pc. Just would like to have your thoughts on it Phist Sent from my SM-G920F using the Police Community App

I'm wondering if anyone can help me - numerous Google searches and the search function on this forum have failed me! At attestation, is the oath taken the same for all specials? Wikipedia tells me that there is a slight variation between specials and regulars, and Scotland and England and Wales but I can't seem to find any information to give me a definitive answer either way as to whether all forces in England have the same oath or not? (I mentioned the word attest in my application form, and having got through to the next stage, feel like I should have some definite knowledge of my chosen force's oath but I'm struggling to find anything concrete) Thanks in advance

Just reading over the Security Guard,CS/Baton topic and something I wanted to expand on from there was the idea that society in general has become far too overly reliant on the police, I think this is something alot of cops will agree with, in my opinion there needs to be in place a way to encourage large-scale organisations to take responsibility to adequately protect their staff and property better, rather then the half-cut method that is widely undertaken across the board now - security organisations/corporations seem simply unwilling to properly protect their locations or assets and tend to push every matter onto the police. The wider problem of organisations and…

I have been called for an appeal of one of my cases ar crown court. I haven't attended an appeal before and had to give a lot of evidence in the original as i was victim and witness to lots of it. I'm just wondering about the format. Is it focused in the nature of the appeal and whatever they are questioning or is it basically a new trial same as the old.

So, I am questioning you all today about how your full time employers feels about you being in the force. Do they treat you any differently? do they offer a 'police for work' or do they treat you exactly the same?

Well after waiting just over a week after the interview I received the life changing email I had been waiting for since I was 4 ears old!. 'You have been successful at interview and have been allocated onto the January Intake.' My heart raced! I am so over the moon. I never thought I would be chosen at all. I really can't wait to start my new career and hopefully move on up the ladder. My final steps now are; Fitness Test Medical Drugs and Biometrics Uniform Fittings I will be policing in the area that I live in so this will really help my in my career as I know the place very well and the people are really nice here.

I'm going through the process of replacing the images on Wikipedia with higher quality vector graphics. I've done the regular insignia at the top of the page but am starting work on the Specials ones. Are there any changes required from what is there at present? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_ranks_of_the_United_Kingdom

So for any Officer role you are re-vetted every X amount of years. In my Force it is every 5 years. Question is, what happens if you fail? Specifically, for the case where it isn't your fault e.g. family members. Surely it's unfair to be blamed for someone else's actions.

Hi all, I got a rather rude awakening this evening, after coming off a night shift, from our witness care unit saying that I will be on Mags court on the 2nd September. I've not been before, and although I'm aware Mags is fairly relaxed, are there any particular do's and don'ts for them? Would it be acceptable to take a copy of my arrest statement in and some notes? Thanks

An interesting blog from WMP Traffic Unit about research they have completed on Killed or Serious Injury RTC involving cyclists and why they are now going to be prosecuting more drivers for 'due care and attention' offences https://trafficwmp.wordpress.com/2016/09/09/junction-malfunction-and-a-new-dawn/#comments
