Figured I'd raise this topic as it's something which I feel would make for a decent, lively debate. Sort of in-line with the recent video showing a man sunbathing in the middle of a street being arrested wearing nothing but speedos but more in-line with other policing related stories over the years where preachers have been arrested for making controversial statements or students arrested for calling a police horse 'gay' etc. Does anyone here believe the balance between protecting public decency and the right for people to debate or have a say in public has over years become weighted too one way? Have we as police been 'overzealous' in enforcing certain pieces o…

Hello and thank you for accepting me in the forum. I seek some advice on behalf of my niece, who finds herself in a bit of a pickle. She bought a flat a few years ago and all was fine until the adjacent flat which she shares the freehold of, was bought by a couple who I can only describe as a local gangster and his mole, who subsequently rented the flat out to drug dealers. My niece approached the dealers and let them know she was not happy and they just laughed at her and to make matters worse they started to grow cannabis in the room next to her bedroom which emits a loud hum 24 hours a day! not to mention the fire risk. To add further insult, she moved her bedroom only…

Hi All Just been posted to sovereign gate for pc training starting on the 25th. I live miles away so need to drive. Does anyone know where to park that is either free or relatively cheap? I appreciate people may not want to post locations on here but if you could pm that would be greatly appreciated.

Stumbled across this image online and it struck me as something that is never really discussed, we seem to keen to liken ourselves to the US but with the recent record of controversial shootings in the USA could they learn anything from us?

Hi all, Just wondering what benefits you get from wing a special (besides the obvious experience etc) do you get discounts on certain things like our regular colleagues? Car finance, mortgages... KFC? Haha Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Connor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This gets asked a lot and on numerous threads. What can I expect and how can I be prepared for my journey into the Special constabulary? Well first of all congratulations you got this far, many who apply never get to where you are. So you got your start date your keen as mustard to get on with the training and get to your first shift. As you can imagine you have an awful lot to learn while you’re at HQ training, can you make it any easier on yourself, because some of the modules can be quite intense and a lot of law to get your heads around. But the answer is yes. On your first module you will get given some homework (yes homework) some will need to be completed befor…

Hi all, So my car insurance is up for renewal soon, and after getting quotes online I'm shocked at how high it still is. (19 yr old, 1 yr NCD, 1 year of having a telematics box already). Does anyone know if PoliceMutual is any good for insurance quotes? I.E. are they fair? Just trying to think of ways to get my insurance down from the near £1000 it is again for my second year

I've just heard that forces across the UK are to be bringing in/have already bought in volunteer PCSO's. Good idea or bad?

I've been successful through regular recruitment with Durham constabulary and have my initial training date set as January 2017 (a long way away when you're itching to get started!) but I'm keen for any advice/ tips/ help on: what to expect of the training course? Is it full on or pretty relaxed? Enjoyable or not so much? any little bits of kit that you aren't issued however are almost essential? any tips for once on I'm on the job? Get stuck in or hang back a little and try and watch/ learn from the more experienced officers? anything else people have to offer Thanks in advance for any help/ replies I get.

Hi everybody. I've often wondered if people regret becoming PC's for whatever reason. With pay and conditions being what they are, the low morale that we hear so much about, funding cuts and under-staffing, do any SC's or external MoP's regret becoming police officers? I know of one Special Constable who went on to become a PC, and who now wishes that they hadn't. Of course, everybody is different, but I'd like to get other peoples views. Many thanks, Jre.

So this post is aimed at you independent specials who have got your basic (or any driving) permits. So basically, unless you're crewed up with another special, you normally crew up with a regular officer. That being said, the regular officer normally drives and you're normally restricted to go to whatever it is they're going to. Does anyone on here ever book on duty on their own, take out a vehicle and work single crewed as a SC? It's rather annoying as if I haven't got one of the other specials at my station to come on duty with me, I'm restricted to going wherever my regular colleague wants to go and I've found lately it normally involves dash or statements. I thin…

I have a feeling this will be coming up a lot in the immediate future, so was interested to hear peoples opinions on what constitutes an offense. I understand when its appropriate to apply the word hate, race religion etc. But does that have bearing on determining if something is an offence? For example, saying why don't you just go home to a foreign person. Not nice but no offence? Why don't you f off home becomes a possible public order offence with a race angle? So there has to be a standard, regular offence for a hate crime to be recorded as such? Am I understanding that correctly?

Looking to get a duty belt instead of the issued load vest (back starting to hurt)! I've done a bit of research online but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Most belts don't come with PAVA holders or Baton holders. All they come with is handcuff pouches amongst other holders. Anyone able to help? Thanks in advance.
