I asked the caps who are redoing my road if they could move thier vehicles from blocking my drive and long story short they just fensed in the machine and left. Now I have to park 2 cars out has I can't get into my drive. Statement writing, we all have to do it. Some more than others I'm sure. Whenever I write statements I have a complete mental block on how to start the statement off. I am aware of the 5 part structure and the 10-point character description etc however its the first part of the statement I tend to struggle with wording. I have decided to make up some scenerios to practice my statement writing. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I've done the regular insignia at the top of the page but am starting work on the Specials ones. Are there any changes required from what is there at present? Evening all just a quick one from me that can hopefully save you some money! I phoned my insurance company recently and informed them about myself being a Special Constable and it actually brought my car insurance down by £200! For my insurance company at least, being a Special falls under secondary employment (it does not matter if your paid or not), and it goes a long way to demonstrate to them what kind of person you are. Give it a go and hopefully this could save you some cash

Hi Folks A friend of mine is panicking about a driving incident and I would like to try and reassure her. She was recently driving on a motorway and one of the lanes was closed a bit bit further down. Quite a few cars decided to drive in the hard shoulder, as did she. Then an ambulance tried to get through and couldn't but eventually did. There was a police car behind it and the officers took photos of the cars in the hard shoulder. She hasn't had any former driving charges and no criminal record. What is the normal procedure? She is quite upset and believes she will lose her licence. Thanks ahead for any advice on this.

As a Special, Traffic Policing might be a future option for me once I have gained I.P. I've always wondered whether traffic bobbies are given mechanical training for cars or are they are simply trained to the extent where they can identify parts of a car and compare that against regulations in order to determine whether it is illegal/defected. Does anyone know to what degree traffic cops are trained in terms of understanding the mechanical workings of a car? Do Specials who go onto become Traffic Specialised receive any specific training ? Hi everyone, I'm due to start training as a special for Cleveland Police in September/early October, and I have a couple of questions. What things do you recommend I buy? I know that I'll probably have to get my own boots/have an allowance, and I'll need a kit bag, but is there anything else you recommend I get that isn't standard issue? I've seen loads of people saying "I've got this, this and this" and I don't know if they've bought it, or had it issued. Is it normal to have a kit bag?
