Hello knowledgable people, A work friend asked if becoming a special constable gave you any qualifications. I don't actually know?

I'm due to start as a PC soon and was wondering about part time working or job share, mainly for work/life balence. Is this something which is possible for frontline police officers?

Although I have a clean driving licence now, I have had a 6 points due to Non Insurance (IN10) in the past. Do I need to declare? I am under the impression it doesn't count as a criminal offence. Please help me out with the answer. Thank you.

Over the past few days in the News section there's been several topics regarding police not being able to effectively police several events over Hallowe'en, or take control of motorcyclist who deliberately massed to ride without helmets or lights, nor not being in a position to be on patrol to stop drivers (a) using mobile phones leading to catastrophic results and (b) stopping drivers driving the wrong way down a motorway. Hi, I have a few fairly vague questions I guess and please be gentle as this is coming from someone who has no policing experience as of yet. So response officers respond to 999 emergency calls. Do they get to do proactive patrols in between and stop drivers for motoring offences, or is there simply no time for that anymore? How many calls on average would a response officer attend in a single shift? I suppose this varies on the outcome i.e whether an arrest is made and nature of the call. If they make an arrest, I'm aware they go back to custody with the prisoner to process them. But when does all of the paper work get done for that case and others from days previ…

Hiya everyone! I posted a similar question on a sub question on here, but thought I would open it up for more people as well. I work for a medium sized agency on the west coast of the US (about 100 commissioned cops) and am a defensive tactics, use of force and Taser Instructor for my department. It's a subject I'm really passionate about. We can (hopefully) go a career without having to shoot anyone, but in some form or another we go hands on with subjects every day while on duty. Right... hear me out before you zero in on my position... I think all US police forces and many others throughout the world have 'Patches' which are sewn onto uniforms... Some people however collect or 'swap' these with friendly forces... In the UK we seem to have nothing of the like. The only thing I can think of is a mate gave his flatcap to the NYPD when he was over there visiting, but that's going to set you back a few points on the internal kit puchasing system and doesn't seem viable. So I was wondering has anyone ever 'traded' or given some sort of kit or whether your force even has a 'plaque' ? Yes this is super sad.....
