General Policing Discussions

I currently hold a provisional licence, and am yet to take my first driving lesson. I know the law is that if I go out on the roads outside of a lesson, I require a passenger who has held a full driving licence for over 2 years, and be over the age of 21 - in addition to displaying L plates. My question is this; If I was driving with my mother, and she got out of the vehicle in order to navigate me into a parking bay a metre or two behind, and the police were to flash blues at this point - would my driving/parking of the vehicle be fully legal?

The Chief Constable wants to spend a day with your team, back to the floor style What would you discuss with him / her? What areas of your force would you visit? What challenges would you discuss? What priorities would you recommend the Chief sets for next year?

Quite simply, what is your travelling distance to the station where you parade for duty? (specials and regulars) Mine is 11miles each way. Im asking out of interest as today, whilst on a training course, a colleague revealed his DAILY drive is 90miles each way and can take up to 2hrs 20mins! Can anyone beat that?

Although I have a clean driving licence now, I have had a 6 points due to Non Insurance (IN10) in the past. Do I need to declare? I am under the impression it doesn't count as a criminal offence. Please help me out with the answer. Thank you.

Over the past few days in the News section there's been several topics regarding police not being able to effectively police several events over Hallowe'en, or take control of motorcyclist who deliberately massed to ride without helmets or lights, nor not being in a position to be on patrol to stop drivers (a) using mobile phones leading to catastrophic results and (b) stopping drivers driving the wrong way down a motorway. Hi, I have a few fairly vague questions I guess and please be gentle as this is coming from someone who has no policing experience as of yet. So response officers respond to 999 emergency calls. Do they get to do proactive patrols in between and stop drivers for motoring offences, or is there simply no time for that anymore? How many calls on average would a response officer attend in a single shift? I suppose this varies on the outcome i.e whether an arrest is made and nature of the call. If they make an arrest, I'm aware they go back to custody with the prisoner to process them. But when does all of the paper work get done for that case and others from days previ…
