Hi All, Im looking for a bit of advice about CKP providers. I am planning on applying to SWP when regulars recruitment next opens up and they require a completed CKP before you can apply. Does anybody know if SWP have a preferred provider or can anyone recommend a good one, (online or classroom led) I am currently living in Oxfordshire. Also does anyone know whether you can complete the qualification intensively over say 2-4 weeks as I am serving in the RAF and am not able to commit to 10+ weekends in a row? Many thanks!

Hi all, hope everyone is well. Got an email this morning saying my Biometric Vetting appointment is in 3 weeks. It is literally the last thing I was waiting on so if successful the next stage I assume would be starting training. It's coming up on 2 years since I applied and a year and a half since Assessment Centre and Interview. I've passed my medical, fitness test and vetting. My question is, does anybody know how long after all stages are complete are you likely to be offered a start date? I know it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question but was wondering if anyone else is in a similar position playing the old waiting game.

Hello all, I am currently in the final stages of the recruitment process (Police Constable) and have my medical booked in October. I have a slight concern as back in April 2015 my doctor diagnosed me with Anxiety and prescribed some meds. Now the cause of all this was a new job i'd started that wasn't working out. Job was not what I expected, unrealistic targets, I received very little training and even got to the point where my manager would ask me to do things and then have a go at me for doing them and deny she'd asked me in the first place. Also employer kept dropping hints I wasn't going to pass my probation and I started to worry about supporting my family…

Hi, Looking for anyone else who's due to attend their SEARCH day in Oct. Have just under 4 weeks to prepare, so nervous but really excited too ? Anything else I should be doing other than reading Police books, talking to other officers to gain an insight into the job, looking at the forces website, going over my competencies... really want this! Thanks

Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to pass vetting with 3 points on your licence? Its so annoying because I got caught when driving through roadworks which weren't even there at the time and the speed limit had been changed. I saw the speed camera as well and didn't even think I was speeding. This was about 3 months ago. Other than that my record is completely clean, I have a good credit score and my family have no past convictions either. Will I definitely fail vetting as i'm convinced I will? thanks,

Hi. Im thinking to change my career from Staff Nurse to PC. Why? I always dreamed to be one.The only problem is that I'm not sure about the future as a PC. For this reason,I have 3 questions if you can be kind to help. If accepted and passed,is there a permanent job offer??or do you need to look for jobs? If you get the job,is that in your area where you live? Is this a guaranteed job? I dont want the fear of being send home due to staff cutts

Hello Everyone, I have not posted to these forums for a number of years as I was thinking of applying to join the police back in 2007 however I have just plodded along in life working in banking for the last 11 years and I feel I am in desperate need of a change. Its not all bad as if I hadn't of started working in a bank then I wouldn't of met my wife and we have now been together for 10 years and married for 7 so some good has come out of a job that I don't really like! Now as Essex are recruiting again I am thinking of applying as I am now 32 and have a lot more life experience behind me than I probably did when I was 22. I went to a career evening Essex Poli…

And what were your reasons? Just curious as I spoke with a PC a while back whilst he was attending a relative's who was giving a statement. As I am interested in joining myself we had a bit of a chat and I found out we were very similar in terms of work history before joining and our motivations to work in the Police force. I personally work a safe desk job in an office for the public sector. Same thing everyday with little interaction with anything other than a keyboard and a screen and very little opportunity for profession or career advancement. I'm looking for a job that has a lot of variety, career opportunities and something that not only gives me a sense…

So, I’m a little bit worried about the vetting process. My dad re-married after divorcing from my mum around 14 years ago. He split from his wife around 7 years ago but they’ve never formally divorced as don’t have the money for the legal fees. I’ve not had any contact with this woman as we never got along so haven’t had any kind of relationship with her since they married. I also fell out with my dad during this time and we didn’t resume a relationship until they split. He hasn’t been in contact with her since their split and doesn’t know for sure where she is now living. When I filled out my initial application form it asked for step-mother’s name but as I h…

I've just had my invitation to both a final interview and medical assessment in two weeks’ time. Obviously I’m thrilled to have made it this far but am nervous as heck, especially with it being so close. Can anyone who’s been through these stages give me an insight into what both the interview and the medical assessment is like? I realise I have little control over how the medical goes but it’d be useful to know what to expect. Thank you in advance.

Hi all, who on here is starting their training on September 18th? Also, can anyone help me with some information on accommodation? I qualify for accommodation in Spring house as my post is C Div. What happens if you don't take the accommodation? Is there an allowance given to you as London living prices are extremely pricey?
