    2018 Intakes

The Kent forum doesn't seem to be getting used much recently but I was just wondering if there's anyone out there joining in this round of recruitment? Got my medical and uniform fitting coming up and hoping to get on the October intake.
  2. Hi there guys I am in a position at the moment where I am looking to move out of my current home county of Cornwall where I am a Special Constable to gain experience elsewhere. Kent Police are a force which have came to my attention and I am looking at putting an application in for regulars soon. I am just wondering if anybody else on here has done this, how did they find the process applying out of the force area, how did you settle? what are Kent Police like to work for as a force? Any pointers or advice is welcome Many thanks

    Boots boots boots

Evening ladies and gents, Just curious, how are boots issued in Kent to PC's? Are there standard issue now (applied a few years ago and at the fitting they told me to keep my altbergs from my old Special constab - which have since gone awol ) If not is there some kind of boot allowance given or is it just use your first pay? Cheers, A

    Kent Police Issued Uniform

As someone has already done in another forum, I suppose I should do some grown up stuff. Can someone post the issued kit and uniform lists for Regs and Specials for KPS?
  6. So yesterday was the first stage of the process which involved travelling to the training school. Definitely a trip I hope I'll be making much more before 2017 is out! The Assessment Centre briefing was essentially what it said on the tin. If you're about to go for yours, the gist is that you hand in your relevant ID/qualification/eligibility documents to the Recruitment team, and then sit with your potential future coursemates in the canteen, making small talk until you are called through to book an assessment centre date and then directed to a lecture theatre where you are given a presentation on the rest of the recruitment process and essentially just a bit more information about the job that you're applying for. I was given a date for the assessment centre (18/05/2017 at 0800) and told that the rest of the process should pass much quicker than I expected!! All in all, the briefing took around 2 hours, despite the possible 4 hours mentioned on the invitation email but it was good to meet a few other people in the process and to have at least some more idea of timescales but now time to book holiday from work and prepare for SEARCH!!

Becoming a PC - My Blog

So, taking influence from @Eddzz!! and his wonderful blog, I've decided to post my own spin on what it means / involves to become a PC. I got the official go ahead about 2 1/2 weeks ago that I had been successful and I would be on the next intake, which starts on Monday October 24th. Lots of paperwork, forms and signatures to complete before then. I've been invited for a pre employment day on Saturday 15th October at the force training school. This is to be shown around, meet your new trainers / colleagues and to go through the uniform fitting again. I say again, as up until last month I was a serving special constable for the same force. It all started when I moved from Wales to England to live in Kent. I met a girl who's from this area and things kind of went from there. I didn't have any friends, family or close connections to spend time with so it was all very difficult. I joined the specials in June 2015 and I instantly fell in love with the job. The unpredictable nature of calls, tasks and day to day activities still makes me smile now. My current job is working within forensic mental health services, which sounds great, but can become boring at times - so the change is very much a good one! I feel a sense of personal proudness to not only become a special constable for one of the UKs largest forces, but to also be on the verge of becoming a full time PC. It's really been a long and difficult road but soon to be over. I aim to share my experiences and what it's like to be a PC and hopefully inspire more of you who wish to follow suit. I will update again sharing what I get up to on Saturday at the pre employment day - if there's anything you wish to know or ask, don't hesitate to comment! Dan
  8. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-35483210 Having been at Dover on Saturday, I can only comment on what I saw- it is, however, nice to see a Chief dig his heels in and stand up for what his force is doing. It seems to be all too common for the sound of backpedalling to kick in, but it appears we've stuck to our guns here. Thoughts?

    Stab vest - Uniform fitting

So I had my uniform fitting which was a lot of fun (although I looked like a complete child in everything). When I tried the armour, it stopped just above my belly button, and the guy said its fine, however I am concerned about the inch that is not protected. (forgot to mention this, too distracted in the whole kit!) Where does your vest stop to, and should I consider asking for a different size?

    Assessment Centre Jitters

So I have my assessment centre coming up this week with Kent. Was told this: Your assessment will consist of the following: Competency Based Interview – lasting approximately 45 minutes Written Examination – lasting 1.5 hours I'm super worried now, because reading on all the info, Im super confused what the written exam consist of.Is it the verbal and maths, or is it verbal, maths and the report?

    Assessment Centre

So I've submitted my application, completed the first vetting and now I have been told I've passed shortlisting! Been told to attend an assessment centre. What is involved, and do I need to prepare anything for it? Is it in Maidstone?
  12. So hey guys, not much activity on this section so thought I'd share my experiences and recruitment timeline so anyone who's wishing or thinking of joining in the future you can have a rough idea. Application submitted - 13th February 2015 Submitted stage 1 of vetting forms - 14th February 2015 Passed initial selection process - 3rd March 2015 Application processed begun - 16th March 2015 Interview, finger prints and DNA swabs - 6th May 2015 Confirmation interview was successful - 8th May 2015 Fitness test, uniform fitting and occupational health appointment - 27th May 2015 Start date - 13th June So in total, it took about 4 months from the time of submitting my application form till the first day of training. It's been a long process but worth it. In between those dates I had to complete various vetting forms, car forms and other documents.

    Kent Specials

Hi Guys, I expressed an interest in joining Kent Specials and I'm thankful my application form has been successful and I've been shortlisted. I am told I will attend the assessment centre in April. I wondered if anyone had any basic advice for when I receive a date to go? Thanks Dan.

    Any Margate Speicals?

Just off the off chance, wondering if there are any specials based at Margate on here? Used to be an SC there myself and just wanted to get in touch with someone I used to special alongside many moons ago!
