Hi all, Can anyone working for the force (PC/and police staff) feedback on the pros/cons of the following shift patterns? 27/4 - 2E-2L-2N-4Rest days )foxed start and finish times) 3/3/3 - 3E-3L-3Rest days (with variable start and finish times) Have either of the patterns affected you personally? Any feedback would be most welcome :-)

Does anyone know of any forces that accept an assessment centre score of 55% with a fail of written part of the assessment. I am aware that Merseyside do, anyone know of any other forces? Thank you.

Had my assesment day yesterday at sedgley park for GMP bit worried about getting the result now? Feeling very anxious ! I am mostly worried about the numerical reasoning test!

Hi all I recently attendedan assessment centre, it was a good experience however on the numeracy I only got to question 16 out of 23 as I struggled to read the graphs. I let them know at the end and was advised not to worry, but I feel if the numeracy is a fail, i.e only answered 12/16 questions correctly and didn't finish the paper then regardless of how I did elsewhere am I likely to score under 50%? Thanks

So, I attended an assessment centre for my local force in December 2016 and received a score of 57%, I think this is a good score but unfortunately this particular force will only accept marks of 605 and higher. I didn’t want to let the grass grow so I contacted another force who were due to recruit in January 2017 and asked if I could transfer my score to them which they agreed to. Their website states that transferred scores will be considered after they’ve run their assessment days in April which is understandable, however an email I received from their HR Dept told me that they won’t be able to consider it until September so I’m a tad confused. I’m also worried …

I think it would be useful if we can get a list together of those forces that still include a Final Interview stage (after Ryton Assessment Centre) in their recruitment process... I'll start us off! North Wales Police recruitment process: Application - Assessment Centre at Ryton (pass point 60%) - Final Interview - Vetting / References - Fitness Test - Medical Test - Appointment

Hi all, I have my day 1 assessment coming up but I am concerned as to whether I would be able to make it through the health assessment if I pass the day 1 or if I should terminate my application and re-apply at a later date. I had anorexia for 4 years as a teenager and also panic disorder for about 6-8months. I have been out of MH services, maintained a healthy weight and not had a panic attack since 2012. However I stayed on my antidepressant (used for my anxiety disorder) until October of last year. The withdrawal was difficult due to physical side effects however I haven't experienced any deterioration in my mental health, if anything I feel better since coming o…

Hi all, Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I had trouble trying to get on to the sister sites - I wanted to ask and get a general consensus from all who are wise and mighty. I have passed the BTP interview and test and have a conditional offer as a Special subject to medical and vetting. I have received my vetting documents and this is where the concern lies.. 1) My Auntie (Mum's sister) has mental health problems, she is currently serving her last year inside for stabbing her -ex husband (he survived and is all ok). She had 8 years, then reduced to 4. She also tried burning down the house with him inside 10 years ago. I have no association w…

Hello Anyone have their final interview coming up shortly? How are you preparing for it and what should be expected? I've got mine next week with Merseyside Police, not sure what to expect, also should I have received an email with information to study on?

Hey got my initial interview in a few weeks time at Jackton, I have started preparing examples for the competencies and researching information on Job Knowledge and diversity. Anyone who has recently passed this stage got any advise on what else I should do and about the interview itself? Anything would be helpful thanks!

Been giving an old family friend some advice on joining the Specials this evening and he's told me he's looking to use it for work experience for when he applies for direct entry at Insp level. I asked him why he was looking to do that and he's said that he's looking to get as high up the ladder as he can and it seems like a good place to start I can imagine there's some ill feeling with this from serving cops because of the lack of experience/success over candidates who have worked hard from entry level to achieve the same goal Realistically are candidates for these schemes frowned upon? Is there anyone at PC/PS level who looks on these schemes favourably? I…

Hi guys, I've had the dreaded email which indicates I've failed the vetting process without giving me a reason why/how. I was completely honest throughout the process and I nor my family have any criminal record. This was for a non police personnel job. Im about to write an appeal letter but would like some help as to what to include in it and how to structure it. I'm completely devastated at this news as this was literally my dream job and a way out of a dead end job. Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm currently a special with Nottinghamshire Police, however I am just going through the final pre-employment checks with Derbyshire for regulars. Ive been given an opportunity to bring my start date forward by potentially 5-6 months, if I was to transfer my SEARCH score over to Notts Police as they are also recruiting now. I would not have to sit an in force interview either. However, as part of the process of weighing up my options, I noticed that on the HMIC PEEL assessment for 2016 Derbyshire were scored good, good, and outstanding. Where as Notts were rated requires improvement twice and good on one measure. Should I even be paying attention to these…

Hi all, I've just in the past few days found out that I've passed the AC (massive relief as I'd convinced myself I had failed and would never get through). Anyway, having looked more into the next stages, I'm really worried about the vetting as I've remembered that I had a PIN issued to me and my partner last year (noisy drug using neighbour saying we harassed him because he would constantly blast music and play instruments so we would knock on his door). I'm going to call recruitment first thing tomorrow to inform them; I didn't previously as I thought nothing of it as the police officer who issued it told me it wasn't a big deal and wouldn't affect any police appli…
