Evening all, Looking for advice. I am just wondering what people's experiences were after leaving the Police and their chosen career paths? Before people advice me on the benifits of the pension and job security...I am already well aware, however I think life is far to short to be un-happy. For some, its a dream job but for myself I find myself waking up at 11am after a nightshift asking myself why I am doing this? In fact, everyshift whilst commuting a fair old way to duplicate paperwork. I unfortunately don't get the same satisfaction out of this job as others. Any advice welcome. Cheers T

Hello all, I have a SET test scheduled for the end of June. All going well in the later stages I imagine I'd be offered September entry. The issue is my Dad retires from PS in August and has booked a 2 week family holiday in October which is an obligation to go on obviously! How flexible are PS with deferring entry to a later intake? C

Morning all, Passed my AC earlier this week and I'm chuffed to bits. I have been given a date for my medical next month in Edinburgh and do have something to declare which I'm a bit worried about. I had an unexplained loss of consciousness with a short illness that followed and it was presumed encephalitis. This however was not diagnosed nor did I take any medication after. It's almost been 2 and a half years and I have had absolutely no issues relating to this. At the time I didn't have my driving licence but I did declare this with the DVLA and posed no issues in obtaining my driving licence. It's a massive grey area and is a genuine worry of mine. I have got…

Hi Passed the set test just waiting on my initial interview date. Does anyone know if they would accept wee flash cards or a small piece of paper with bullet points as a prompt at the interview, I’m worried I forget my competency examples with the nerves.

Hello, my name is Asrar Hussain. I am new to this page, I am hoping to join the Scottish Police. I have applied and had a couple of questions. I have a learning disability, dyslexia and discalucia. This is a disability with numbers. I have asked for more time as they provide this service. I have looked online an was told that calculators can be used in the maths assessment and wanted to make sure this was correct. Would I be correct in saying that calculators are allowed in the maths assessment?

Good afternoon, folks. I am hoping someone who has recently been through the recruitment process, or coming to the end can outline this for me (and others who will come across this thread) I will put it in the form of questions. 1)From sending in the application, roughly how long is it until you get invited in for assessment? 2)When is the medical conducted - again, how long after application is sent in. 3)How long after initial application is the final fitness?

Hello, I have recently tried to make it as a police officer in Scotland. I was unsuccesful as I missed the fitness test. The test used to be a pass mark of 9.2 on a bleep test and I managed to get 7.2 or more. The test is now 5.4, I had stopped running as my knees and shins were really beaten by running outside. I will start again and have given myself more time to start. Do you have any tips and advice in dealing with the bleep test?

Hello good people. I have googled this and found opposing answers, normally I try to avoid using a forum to ask questions that have been asked a million times, but when i tried searching this forum I also got conflicting answers, I just need a quick answer from someone who has went through the Police Scotland recruitment process. 1) Numeracy - Are you allowed to use a calculator when you sit the numeracy test? 2) References, do they actually go through and request references for your entire employment history or do they only collect the previous five years?

Hi Everyone, Currently going through the selection process and looking at a march intake. Has anyone else been comfirmed for this intake yet? the recruitment team have been doing around 40/50 interviews the last few mondays so guessing it’ll be a big intake and was thinking of putting together a group chat to help everyone prep etc.

Hi everyone, Just joined up on here today - hopefully I'm doing this right.. I have my SET's this coming Friday (25th), I was curious as to how quickly they are moving through the stages so hoped anyone that has recently passed their SET's could let me know their experience thus far? Also, how long did it take to hear back if you had passed the SET's? Any advice, tips, words of wisdom for any parts of the process would be much appreciated! J

I am currently in the process of becoming a PO. In relation to vetting, I understand you must disclose any criminal convictions or criminal activity of close family and/or partner. My partner received a Fixed Penalty Notice 10 years ago. Would this need to be disclosed on the form?
