I have my assessment centre shortly but have just received my optician report and I will fall short on unaided vision. Providing I pass the assessment centre, would I be better to defer my medical to get laser eye surgery done first or have my medical and potentially be deferred for intake? The recruitment department stated the latter could be an option. I just don’t want to rush to pay for laser eye treatment if there are any other potential issues with application (hopefully there won’t be).

Hi, Was hoping to get some peoples thoughts and perspectives as I've recently been deferred for a year and will now need to reapply from scratch next year...which is obviously devastating! I applied in January and got through all the stages, including uniform fitting as targeted for June intake this year. At my medical it was highlighted that I had experienced a short period of 'anxiety' and had been prescribed a low dose of medication which I had still been taking...purely because I hadn't been seen for a review at gp and didnt think much of it. I had experienced a few panic attacks 1.5yrs ago but nothing since, there was no depression, no low mood. It was me…

Hi there new to this forum. I have my initial interview in 3 weeks and wondered if anyone else does? This is my second time around and feedback from last one was I went off track and blabbered on my scenarios but job knowledge was good. Any tips for this time would be great? I take it some scenarios can be from a sport or life event not just work related ? Thanks 🙂

Hello, I have a question which I may not be able to get an answer for, however I previously wanted to join the police a few years back now and was not successful. I then went on to work in finance which I have been successful with, however I feel as if I am being drawn back to make an attempt to become a police officer. In my current job I earn a good salary and I have commitments like everyone else along with 2 children and I have become used to this income, however if I am successful in becoming a police officer I will be taking a cut on income, now to me the income really is not a driving force but it is extremely important again as I have commitments. M…

The same goes for Equality and Diversity,Is a little brief summary followed by naming the 9 protected characteristics enough?

Hello I'm just wondering about people's experience about going to their local station to speak to a probationer.Did you find you had to go back at a more suitable time? How long roughly should you speak to them for and do you take notes whilst talking? Cheers.

Just wondering if anyone has had any sort of neck/back surgery and been ok at medical? I had my C5/6 disc replaced a year ago, healed well, no issues from it at all now but I know some spinal related issues are a no go, anyone any similar experiences and been ok or had to submit further info? I’ve just sent the medical docs off to the occ health team but will await any response, hadn’t really thought about the surgery until now. thanks!
