Has anyone here made the transition, or is currently making the transition from Special Constable to Police Officer with Police Scotland? I am considering doing so myself. Last year my Police Officer application was unsuccessful at the Initial Interview stage; and since I have been working on my competencies, some of which I feel I have a vast experience but others I feel my experience is minimum and to pass the respective questions to the competencies I may need to get 'lucky' with the question that they ask hoping my example can fit. What I am interested to know is; having made, or are making the process of transitioning from Special Constable to Police Officer do …

Hello all, first post so be nice. I'm currently due to do a resit for one of my SET's, I have a date for Feb. At the moment the whole process time seems a little unpredictable. Me and my parter are planning holiday for a week in Novemeber. Are there specific month's in which the courses start each year or does it change all the time. I'm a little apprehensive about booking a holiday in case the process speeds up and I were to be given a course which would interfere with the trip. Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I currently applied for Dundee police and have been accepted to do initial fitness and maths and English. Will they have already done some Vetting check I have declared that I previously had an IN10 on my licence (which was a complete mistake.) which left me with a spent conviction, but apart from that have never had an trouble with the police. will they have noticed this or is it going to be against me. thanks

Help I'm starting to panic. I have my fitness test very soon and I'm starting to doubt I'll pass. I thought I was doing really well but now realise my measurements have been a bit short and even though it's just a few steps it makes a big difference. Everyone says it's easy but I don't agree. I've been told me you can practically walk the start but I find i'm sprinting straight away, I only have wee legs . I've never been a great runner but I'm defo more distance than speed. Should point out that I've passed the fitness before when it was the 1 1/2 mile and found it so much easier. Can anyone offer any advice? You'll make me feel so much better if you tell me…

I have my initial interview coming up soon and want to be as prepared as possible. Unfortunately I'm not in Scotland at the minute so I can't pop into the local station so I was just wondering if there are any probationers on here who could give a bit of advice for the interview? I have answered one competency however I am doubting it and I'm finding it tough to answer the rest. Thanks for any help!

The letter I have received inviting me to do the fitness test says - Should you pass the initial fitness test there are 4 possibilities: 1. If you have not previously sat the Standard Entrance Test or sat it before April 2013 you will be required to attend to sit the SET on N/A 2. If you have previously sat and passed the SET you will receive an invite to your Initial Interview. 3. If you have previously sat and failed the SET after April 2013 you will receive an invite to re-sit the papers failed. N/A 4. If you have previously attended the Assessment Centre, please read the letter attached carefully and bring all documentatio…

HI all, I'm currently going through the application process at the moment but I was wondering what sort of opportunity there is for overtime during probation and whether it comes with extra pay at all (and if it does, how does that work)?.

Aargh waited so flipping long to get date for initial fitness and now looks as though I can't get the time off work. Have any of you guys been unable to attend any of the stages on the dates give? If so how did it go down with recruitment? Did you have to wait ages for another date?

Hiya I've got my fitness test on 20th Dec, eek!!! Email said parking is limited at Jackton so taking alternative transport is advised. Last time I applied I didn't have any problems getting a space but assume it must be busier now. Is it quite difficult to get parked at Jackton and if so is there anywhere nearby to park? Thanks

Hi all, I am pleased to say I am at the medical/vetting stage of the process, which is not doing my heart much good?.... but I bet we have all.been there. Ok, I have one caution and only adverse dealing with the Police nearly 10 years ago in England. I was 21 year old and sitting up at my local welfare when I was in company with another 4 or 5 boys. One of the lads had an air rifle and it was being passed around the group. Long story short, I was the one who had the rifle in my hands when the officer appeared. It was taking off me and later returned to my parents house. I received a warning. So...... I have just read online about vetting and there ar…
