Hi Everyone, I will try and keep this as short and sweet as possible. Looking to join police in Summer of 2017 - I am physically fit and don't feel I would have any issues passing selection other than the thing which follows. When I was younger, growing up in the area which I did, I did mix with some people that were 'up to no good' - By no means the worst people of society but in the eyes of the law not the best types - During this time I did experiment with three drugs, Marijuana, Ecstasy and Cocaine, now I must make clear this was not a regular thing in any way but I have tried each of these substances - The negative people which were in my life for a considerabl…

Interested to find out about Tulliallan and what the training is like for new Police Scotland officers. 1. How intensive did you find the course? With 11 weeks, to learn it 'all' so I imagine it must be very intense. 2. What's the accommodation like? Are most rooms single or shared? 3. What's the split between the theory and practical exercises? And any general thoughts or advice would be great.

Hi, I'm starting my training at tulliallan in December, just passed my final fitness last week, was wondering if anyone could me an insight into how intense after hours is with studying and training etc. And was also wondering if it's a good idea to travel home each night or even a couple of nights a week as I stay within a half hour drive from the college- thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good evening, Hope you are all well. I am currently a serving officer with The Met. I am a specialist (SOIT with SCO17). I have 7 years service, 10 in total if you count the PCSO years... I have been in London for 15 years and feel it's time to come home. I have put my transfer papers in and am through to the next stage, I need to send a couple of passport photos for vetting. Has anyone done the transfer thing already or are currently going through it? Thanks for reading! Sent from my iPhone using Police Community

Good morning all, For those who are starting with Police Scotland on Monday 19 December, here are some helpful tips; 1. Ensure that you are on time. If you arrive on Sunday evening, then that will assist you as you will have no traffic to contend with. Attend at reception when you arrive and do not be late getting to the parade square. 2. Male recruits; have a good clean wet shave that morning. NOT the night before, NOT using electric razor. No ridiculous haircuts, keep it smart as you are joining the police. 3. Female recruits; minimal / no make up and have your hair scraped back into a bun. No wispy hairs around neck, use hairspray or similar. 4. Acknowledge ev…

Many years ago, without my knowledge, a memo was place into my Personnel File by a Superintendent which had been written by the then head of Property Services. It was critical of myself and my wife when we lived in a police house/office and had complained about the poor state of repair. We were supposedly bad tenants, suffering from stress who could conduct ourselves properly. During my service I requested to see my file once and have it copied and sent to me twice. In doing so I realised and proved that the memo was sometimes in my file and sometimes it was removed and then replaced. I complained at the time but I was fobbed off. After retiring I decided to complain ag…

Hey Everyone, Quick question for anyone in the know. Got my medical for Police Scotland on the 8th Aug at Jackton. I'm concerned because in the past I've had two seizures. Both times they have been put down to external factors (two head injuries in fact), the first was in 2007 and was due to being assaulted and it was a full blown seizure. The second in 2014 due to falling down a flight of stairs whilst carrying a telly (remember the old style CRT's, one of those) and it was only a minor seizure. My GP has always been a belts and braces kind of person and sent me both times to get an MRI and to speak to the epileptic clinic at the Western about the results and both…

Just sent my application away for Specials. Think I have missed this years intake after a years wait before I could re apply. Anyone else applied for specials? I made it to final interview stage last year and unfortunately misread the application form, never put previous penalty points down as have been off my licence for several years. Fingers crossed nothing stops me this time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi all, Looking for as much information as you can possibly throw at me regarding the recruitment process as it is just now (be really handy if anyone in training at Tulliallan just now or recent probationers were on here and had a bit of advice). Just trying to find out as much about the job as possible and the recruitment process, a more specific place to start could be can anyone tell me how G division is? Want to stick that down as my first choice (and hopefully get it) as It'd be great to get the city centre beat. Also looking to find out whats involved in the fitness test, would say Im relatively fit at the moment don't think the bleep test will be an issue (unle…

Hi all. I've got an invite to my medical and uniform fitting in December. Silly question but is it not premature to be fitted for a uniform until you know if you've passed vetting and medical? I thought the uniform would be the very last thing before training commencement. Sounds odd to give out uniforms so far in advance. Training doesn't start until February.
