Hi all just got through initial interview now am at ac on Thursday. Im looking forward to group exercises but its the final interview. Just wondering if you give same examples for the competencies given in previous initial interveiw or just completely different examples. I know some competencies are different and that's fine. Im not sure what to do, any advice would be helpful, I'm getting nervous lol cheers Sent from my LG-H340n using Tapatalk

Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows if there are any martial art gyms close to the police college? Normally train 2 hours every night in MMA or Jiu Jitsu and dont really fancy missing all that much, would be ideal if there were any classes or gyms close by to accommodate it? Cheers Stephen

I wondered what people's experience is with costs associated with applying to the SC. I've passed the exam, fitness and interview, but now have to fork out for an optometrist report ahead of my medical as well as background checks for my partner and her parents as they live in the US. I've also got a 4 hour round trip for my medical despite living fairly close to Edinburgh and Glasgow because of the way Police Scotland is now carved up. I'll also have to take 5+ days holiday and by the time I come to qualify I'll probably have spent £200-300. I don't mind paying for travel to training etc or even the holidays but it seems a bit of cheek to pile on the expenses for wha…

Hi folks, just wondered if anyone else had experienced being deffered at this stage? Went through my medical today at Jackton however the doctor has deferred me for 4 months until May due to my BMI being 31. I had my worries regarding this before going today however I have been losing the extra weight and dropping my BMI along way, I have one of these builds that I will naturally have a higher BMI than most. So now I've been told recruitment will be in touch in March and that's when I'll redo my medical and final fitness. Gutted yes but doing my best to stay positive as what I need to do us easily achievable.

  8. Petition 111421

Did you know, since Police Scotland was formed it has had to pay VAT every year to the UK Government? But, the eight forces prior to its formation did not? Crazy!! Sign this petition asking the House of Commons to debate the issue, with a view to having Police Scotland and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service VAT exempt. It's only fair Scottish Police are on a equal footing with England & Wales forces and the PSNI. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/111421

Hi I'm a regular serving with the met. Am looking into possibly transferring to police Scotland and relocating with my family. I'd like to move to the North around Thurso or possibly the Orkney Islands and was wondering if anyone here could give me any idea of what it's like to police the North? And the Islands? Recommendations or advice on living/working locations, I really like the idea of rural policing. Anything really would be a great help especially if there's anyone on here whom has made the transfer from an English force to Scotland. Thanks

I'm a bit curious (before anyone asks....no I don't intend on moving to Scotland anytime soon) How would transferring from a Home Office force in England and Wales to one in Scotland work? this is for Special Constables by the way , not regs and could they transfer back to E&W

One year and a half ago I had a bottle of fruit shoot and accidently walked out the shop but it was not seen as accidental. I'm 18 and want to join the specials. In that incident the police were called but they didn't take me back to the station or anything just took my details and said they charged me with theft. I didn't even get any bits of paper from the police through my door after that. But I did get a fine from a civil recovery company. If you have ever failed vetting what was the reason and do you have any tips on me passing? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
