I am way behind in my minimum amount of hours as a special because my fiancee was made redundant in January and I've been working overtime to cover the difference, and my last shift was on new years day. So my question is, even though its been even though its been just over 2 and half months, is it going to effect me later in life when it comes to my application to the regulars? ive told my sergeant and hes OK with it but hones…

Hi everyone! I was just wondering, as I am a student currently in Aberdeen, but originally from Dumfries & Galloway, how easy it would be for me to switch between these divisions during term time and holidays? Any advice is appreciated. Cheers Paul.

Can anyone confirm if Police Scotland still do the set exam before interviews, I know some other forces don't anymore?

Hi all, I start my first day of training tomorrow at Fettes, Edinburgh and I was just wondering if when issued, do you take the uniform home, or is it kept there? Just for ironing and cleaning, I'm particular about that stuff!

Hi everyone... This may seem like an obvious question but what would people recommend wearing to the Uniform Fitting? I presume something light and casual as I'll need to get changed a bit. People who have had their's, please let me know. Got mine tomorrow! Cheers Paul.

Hi everyone! I start training next month with Aberdeen City division and was just wondering, from currently trained (or going through training) Specials, what's included in Part A? Officer Safety Training is the big thing I am aware of. What exactly do we get taught in OST? Which self defence techniques, pressure points etc? Or do we not get that? Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks Paul.

Hi What are your views on older applicants (over 40)? If you are an older applicant how have you found the process? I applied last year but didn't make it through the initial interview. My age (I was 40) was mentioned a couple of times, which I was very surprised at considering age is one of the protected characteristics. I want to apply again this year but I'm worried my age will go against me. I should mention that I didn't fail because of my age. I was told that I came across as being a bit naïve, yeah I'm a young 41 year old but I'm not naïve. Apart from that my feedback was really good and she said it was a good interview, hmm not quite good enough though. …

Police Scotland are now recruiting for specials. It's under the banner of current forces - but it states that it's Police Scotland you're joining. New recruitment process that is standardised; SET- fitness - Interview - Medical/Vetting And the new accredited training scheme. Good luck to all thinking of applying.
