Hello. I recently passed my Panel Interview and I have my medical coming up shortly. I'm aware of what goes on generally but wanted to know about the hearing test. I just wanted to get more of an insight in to what it involves. Do you go in to a booth and listen for beeps. How difficult is it? My eyes are fine so not so worried about that. I know the test varies between forces. My legacy force is L&B. I'm sure there will be a few folk who have gone through it recently. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey all, thought I would say hello to all for my first post :new_shades: Got my PPoS SC fitness tests and SET date coming up soon, anything I should be looking out for at this stage? Also assuming all goes well it states the next intake will be around autumn 2013 on the website, bit vague I know, just wondering if that would be past now or I'm in with a chance of quickly being slotted onto training? Ta!

Hi all, I would be interested to know what speed police scotland prosecutes at? As you now have no acpo what defines it? Do you do the 10% +3 or not? I'm mainly thinking of dual carriageways etc. Would be interested to know how you differ from England as I believe acpo says 83 is accepted on a 70 road. Plus apparently you have a no speed awareness course policy which is interesting' Thanks all! Sorry bit of a traffic geek so I like to know these things.

Just a quick question. Has Baillieston police station closed down? I came past it today on the bus and I haven't been in Baillieston for a long time and noticed that the building I thought was the police station was boarded up.

Thought I'd post a quick mention for everyone who has passed FPI and had uniform fitting then have to go and buy your boots. If like me you searched online for ages trying to find somewhere in Edinburgh that sells the boots, then I hope this short cuts the process for you. Sports and Rec at Fettes as mentioned by the guys at Uniform fitting no longer exists or at least not at fettes anymore. I went to Leith army Surplus Footwear they have all the appropriate footwear you will need and pretty reasonable prices. You could buy online but I prefer to try on footwear to ensure i get the best comfort. Anyway they are very friendly and helpful and if you mention your joining the…

Having being recently accepted and awaiting my training dates, my mind has started to wander about my first shift as a "half rasher" SC. tell me about your first day as a special and where it was?

Hello, Though I'd start a fresh thread in the Police Scotland forum as there seems to be a good few of us from all over Scotland currently going through the old recruitment process and others who have completed the process and are waiting for an intake date. I presume many of you received an update today mentioned in another thread about the estimated timescales for the next intake. I went through the L&B process after putting my application in March last year. Had my uniform fitting in April just past and now just waiting to do my final fitness test. Has anyone heard anything about the likely numbers they are looking for each intake? Dr B

Hi folks. I just wondered if anyone can give me more info into the medical. I've read some posts on here but wanted to try and get more in depth info. How intense is it? What's the hearing test like? I just want to understand what they are looking for. I have read the requirements on the Scottish Govt website but really wanted to hear people's experiences of what goes on just so I know what to expect if I progress to that stage. Thanks.

Hi Folks I have strongly been considering applying for the police the past couple of years. My best friend is a PC and I have had many conversations with other PC's and CPC I have been told by many I would be perfect for the force with my personality and right attitude. So I am setting myself to apply for the force this time next year the reason being is I have to still to obtain a full driving licence and I need to work on my fitness I dont want to scrape 1.5 miles in 12 minutes id like to know that I can achieve it within 10 or under. The few questions I have are * I wear a knee support when I go running or play football/Intense excercise (football injury from y…

Hello Scotland.. I had to visit the Scottish Police College recently for my normal job and I must say, I was impressed with how polite your officers are. I'm sure there's some sort of rule were those who are in training are told to say hello to everyone but even then, most people don't really follow those kinds of rules.. However, every uniformed officer I went past, gave me a "good afternoon/hello sir".. Anyways, just wanted to say I was impressed! :new_clap:
