Hi I'm looking to hear from anyone that's recently done the fitness test. Did you do the 1.5mile or beep test? I know they normally get you to do the 1.5 mile run but I've heard that recently its been the beep test, does anyone know if this is true? Also looking for any tips on the beep test. I read one thread that said its a brisk walk up to level 3 but I find I'm having to run at quite a pace. I'm doing the fitness very soon and am very, very worried. Up until about 3 weeks ago I was confident but I've hurt my calf and only been out a couple of times. I tried the beep test tonight but had to give up as my calf was too sore. I'm hoping if I rest the next few da…

Hi guys, Thought I would say hi to everyone going through the recruitment process. I applied at the beginning of 2012 and have just had my uniform fitted. What an experience that was! Just waiting to find out my appointment date and do the final fitness test. Hows everyone else getting on with the process and training? :)

Hi all. Have my fitness test on the 28th of May. I have had the email explaining changes to the test with regard to the push/pull test being removed, but there is no mention of the written assessment on the website now. It says that you go to interview after fitness test. Is the written exam gone? Is the interview on the same day as the fitness now? Thanks

Hi everyone, I have the 1.5 Mile Run on the 10th May at Fettes, I am wondering if anyone can answer a few queries I have about it? Where is the test done? Ie.. Laps of a park, along a road..? Does someone set the pace or do you just get on with it yourself? My fitness had dropped significantly so I've had to get into training for it! I'm hitting just over 11 minutes at the moment, really feeling it in my calves though, hopefully running every day until the test will pay off! Thanks for your help?

Anyone who passed final interview recently will have been placed in a pool of suitable candidates for the New Force starting 1st April and will be awaiting news as to when they will unertake Drug test and Final Fitness. Anyone heard about any potential dates for any of these? Cheers

Personal Security - All Users, Especially New Ones, Please Read. I would like to take this opportunity to recommend all users of the Police Service of Scotland forum take into consideration their online personal security, for example; Is my user name my full name? Is my profile picture actually me? Have I linked to social media accounts on here? A yes to any of those questions would be bad. I would like to also take the opportunity to ask you to consider your personal security on social networks in particular. Is it easy to find me? Are my privacy settings “low”? Do I have a load of people on my facebook I don’t know/don’t know that well? …

Hi Folks! I'm looking for help from the wise and wonderful. I have my Assessment Centre in a few weeks and I know one of the questions that may be asked is "Police Scotland - What differences are there?" OK, I know about certain things like Trunk Road Policing and and the SCD (Specialist Crime Division) and am researching further but there are probably lots more. Also any help on current initiatives would be great. I know about the Campaign Against Violence which is running at the moment. Anything else would be great - particlarly if you are a serving officer or are super clued up! Thanks Keith

Hi Folks. I just have a question with regards to the core competencies and it's what potential related questions could there be? The competencies are: Effective Communication Team Working Problem Solving Respect for Diversity Personal Awareness and Effectiveness Ok, so I know I could possibly get asked about when I've had to use my communication skills and when I've worked as part of a team. What sort of questions could I potentially be asked with regards to the other competencies? Any one got any ideas? I know it difficult to say exactly what you were asked, especially if you have been through it recently (the A/C that is) as maybe you can't give too much away - big b…

Hi all, I thought i would introduce myself before we get started as i'm a new member to this site. I was a special for 3 years with Strathclyde. I left - regrettably - in 2011 following a voluntary resignation due to work committments. I've had a while out and now proposing to lodge an application for the regulars. I note with interest from the police Scotland website that the recruiment for Police officer's will be opening soon, anyone heard anything through the grapevine? Cheers

I wonder if the mods will give us some sub-headings along with a generic Police Scotland heading? It would be good to have sub- forums for the three main areas of North, East and West to reflect the structure and to allow a degree of localised information sharing. One things for sure - Police Scotland may only be slightly smaller than the Met but the Met doesn't cover a whole country - there is bound to be a range of diverse issues and geographic differences so hopefully the forum allows for that. Hi, Has anyone heard anything regarding recruitment reopening? I applied last year and failed at initial and am now almost eligible to apply again and would like to have another go at it. Clearly there is much change ahead in the next few months and I was just wondering if there was any speculation about recruitment just now. In particular how likely or unlikely it is to reopen before the 1st April. Thanks.
