As you will see, this area is now open for business but not as yet fully formed. Kind of like the Police Service of Scotland itself I suppose you could say. Each of the 8 Scottish forces retain their own identity on the forum at least for the moment, and forum users can continue to use them as normal. The only other changes at the moment, are that the Scottish Special Constabulary Private Forum has moved from Miscellaneous forces into this new all encompassing Scottish area and that there is now this new forum area where topics related to the new Police Service of Scotland can be discussed both now and in the future. Once the merger is completed in April 2013, then we'…

Hi Guys, First of all, I am new to the forum. I have been following this site for quite some time and now that I have passed my application stage for Lothian & Borders (Scottish Police Service), I thought it was about time I came and introduced myself. After one failed attemped last year at joining Lothian and Borders, I decided that this year I would try again, and after a month of carefully filling in my application form, the hard work has paid off and I have been invited to attend the SET towards the end of Feb 2013. In my preperation, I have been hammering through the example SET and also going over my Maths and English. I have also stopped smoking and starte…

Hi all, I'm currently in the application process with Strathclyde police and have my inital interview soon. I have been advised to speak to a probationer currently in the service to speak about local issues. If necessary I could ring up a local police station to book an appointment. I would love to speak to anybody that has recently been through the process with Strathclyde. I have been massively impressed with the service so far and removed my application with Greater Manchester Police to proceed with Strathclde. Thanks.

Hi guys! Got my letter saying I've got my initial fitness assessment. Does this mean I'm only doing the initial fitness assessment or are the SET's included in this as well? Stephen.

I have only just read this and it strikes me as being slightly odd. Why would strathclyde think that putting their own 'anti-crime' lables on the bottles will have any impact on the antisocial behaviour that is associated with the drink? I think that we will just see a whole bunch of photos/facebook posts/youtube videos of people specifically drinking the bottle in spite of the lable as a way of intentionally disrespecting the warning lables. Am i missing something? It just seems a little naive.

A mate of mine is looking to join the specials. However he has missed the March intake deadline for Strathclyde. He has asked me how the specials will be restructured under Police Scotland, but since I became a reg, I'm a bit out the loop on things to do with the specials. Any help and information would be much appreciated.

Hi all, Ive been a looooong time lurker here on the forum, and its been a great source of info and help with my application to the specials. I had originally gone for last septembers intake but the medical history delayed my application so much that i had to defer to this coming march. Im looking forward to inputting into the forum and giving back to something that has helped me immensly!

Hi all. New poster, so hope you're all good! I passed my Assessment Day last week and this week my vetting was sent off. As it stood at the time, I wasn't aware of anyone i am associated with having any criminal convictions. I'm an only child but I have a step sister and step brother because my mother got married about 3 years ago. I don't have any contact with either step-sibling and i've only seen them twice in my whole life. They both live in England, as do the rest of my family. However, it came to my attention today that my stepbother was caught smoking cannabis when he was younger (he's now in his 30's) and was given community service. I didn't know this, i fou…
