As I'm sure some of you know, as you will have attended it, the force held an Information Day on Saturday 3rd November 2012. For those who didn't know about it, or couldn't attend, here are the presentation slides (PDF) in case you fancy seeing what you missed; http://www.strathclyde.police.uk/assets/pdf/22900/special-constable-information-day-3-november-2012

Hi guys, Time for a very obvious question from a complete newbie. Since the changeover to the new Strathpol website, I cannot actually find out the lettering for the divisions. I have been able to find the coverage of the areas, for example 'Glasgow Central and West' however the letters don't seem to be actively used on the site anymore? Would someone perhaps be kind enough to give me a breakdown of what and/or where they are? It would definitely be appreciated!

Hey everyone, Got a few questions to ask covering a few areas :new_please: Firstly, I'm set to start training in January with Tayside. My medical is in 2 weeks. When do we go for our uniform fittings and how long after do we receive our uniforms? Secondly, I'm wondering what kind of stuff do you cover during training? What kind of theory work is done and physical work is carried out during the 10 week training? And at the end of it all, is there a test or something of that sort to pass before being sworn in? Thirdly, Given everything goes to plan and I am sworn in, are we allowed to buy gear extras such as gloves, different baton holders or CS holders and are we allo…

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this website entirely. I'm currently in recruiting stages to central, awaiting my date for the final panel interview, and was wondering if there were others in the same boat... All the other forums in strathclyde and lothian seem to be getting mobbed so was just writing to check if there actually was a central Scotland online community willing to share experiences and so on. Like I said, I'm awaiting a date for the final interview and would love to speak to others about what areas theyre studying, or have in fact already been successful and can pass on some wisdom. I have really enjoyed my recruiting stages so far and would be hap…

Having passed Vetting, what is the "final vetting check" as part of the Conditional Offer? Vetting took ages in the first place - do they check all the same stuff again? Not worried just curious.

Hi, I'm applying to be a Special within Strathclyde and I'm just wondering what the reference checks are like that they request. For example, does it just ask for the dates that the person worked there? Or does it go more into detail? Thanks Craig

Hi everyone, thought I'd start a thread for people who are starting with Strathclyde on the January 9th intake. I have been a member of the forum under the name Samba72 but for some reason I can't access that account so have set up under this name. Anyway enough of that, had my medical today and also got fitted for uniform. Just final fitness on the 7th of December to go before starting on the 9th of January. Really looking forward to it and the challenge of a new career. I'm coming from a long career in the military and am ready for a change. Hope that others who are starting in January will post on here and we can use it to get to know each other a bit before we star…

Asked this in the recruitment subforum, but thought I might have better luck asking here. If I got a tattoo on my inner forearm would I be required to wear long sleeves at all times to cover it up? IE. would I be sabotaging myself for working in summertime?

Hi guys, I've been studying pretty hard for my initial interview coming up this month and would maybe like some advice on the difference between the initial interview and the final interview. Would I be right in saying that the intial interview is just basically getting to know you and seeing your the right kind of person and what you know about the force you are hoping to join etc? And if passing this the final interview would maybe be based around some scenario/situation questions? I just want to be clear on this topic. Any help would be much appreciated I'm off to bury my head back into my studying for this... :-/ Cheers guys Chris
