Hi, I was wondering if anyone be able to clarify whether the 'Post Initial' in week 12 of the probationer timetable is for two or three weeks? On the timetable on the Strathclyde Police website it says: Module 3 Weeks 12-13 Post Initial 3 weeks But if it was weeks 12-13 then I gather it would only last 2 weeks and not 3 as the website says. Unless it runs into a bit of week 14. Hope someone can help to clarify what it actually is meant to be.

Ok, here is a stupid question for everyone. When you go into a panel interview do you go up and shake hands with the whole panel? I would always shake hands with one interviewer but not sure of the etiquette with a panel interview.

I have been out running since I got the phone call saying I was going through to the next stage. I'm not a runner, never have been and I'm finding running a mile and a half so difficult. I really want to do well on Friday but its beginning to really worry me

Hello up North, well to me anyway! Is there any current active users that are from Dumfries & Galloway? I've recently sent my application form to apply to become a Police Constable within your force. I understand that their average time from Application acceptance to first day of training is approx. 6 months. I have a few questions to ask! If my application was successful, could anyone recommend an area that's good for nice apartments? Also, I have been told its the smallest Police Force in Scotland, what sort of policing do you normally see every day? CR.

Hi everyone, I have my panel interview in two weeks time. Does anyone know how soon the second fitness test is after your medical and what happens if you fail it? I have taken my foot of the gas with the running since my initial fitness concentrating on studying the force. Also, did you wait till you had your acceptance letter before resigning from your previous job. Thanks. And huge well done to everyone that's got through recently!!

I know there is a few on here who have their fitness on this day. Now as most will know, this is my second attempt. After failing by 20 odd seconds in June, I have spent the last 12 weeks training for this time round. I have been working with a personal trainer who devised me a weight and cardio plan to hopefully get to over that pass mark. As well as having to pass the run in under 12 minutes, I also have to show a 'improvement ' on my push/pull scores. What level of improvement I dont know, but that's what I have been told, so that's what I will aim to do. (70kg was my score in June) I have mainly used a treadmill for my running and have had 3 runs a week. All tota…

Oral history interviews: 'Police and Community in Twentieth-Century Scotland: a Social History' My name is Neil Davidson and I am part of a team of researchers at Edinburgh University funded by the Leverhulme Trust who are researching the social history of policing in Scotland in the C20th. For part of this research we are very interested in the experiences of those who served as special constables in Scotland between 1940 and 1970 and are keen to speak to anyone who fits this criteria. Whilst I appreciate this website is primarily about contemporary Police Specials issues, I was wondered if any one could advise me about how best to go about making contact with such…
