I was wondering if in Strathclyde there is a strict policy on transporting prisoners back to the police station. When you watch programmes like brit cops if the arresting officers are in a car they will always request for a van to come to transport the prisoner rather than transporting prisoner in their car. I noticed in Glasgow last week a guy being arrested but was put in the back of the police car. Does it depend if prisoner is compliant?

Hi, Just wondering what kind of jobs folk on here did before joining the police or currently do, but are hoping to join the police? How have you found the change? I was previously a civil servant, but it was in a role that had lots of day to day dealing with police.

Just wondering about this, really. I've a habit of just putting my last 10 years previous employment on any application forms I do. Thats what I put down on my Police application, but will that satisfy them at vetting? Will they want to go further back? I hope not, not because theres any skeletons rattling away in that cupboard, just that prior to starting in the line of work I'm in, I was at college and had several temp and part time jobs, and I can see contacting those employers getting to be pretty time consuming and delaying vetting. Course, all this is academic as I've still to sit my initial interview! Positive mindset though!

Stephen House's annual report is now available to read via the strathclyde website. Quite an interesting read and I've found it has quite a lot of useful information for those of us who are recruitment hopefuls, lots of info on the force priorities as well as details of several operations run by strathclyde police.

So sent away my application for the Strathclyde Specials a few days ago, and just looking over it if forgot to put the address and telephone number for one of my Referees! WTF! Hey guys, possibly a silly question, but do we need to sign up for the award scheme every year to be eligible, or if we signed it the first time around we will always be eneterd into the scheme? The joys of only having been a special for a year and still not having a clue about these things. lol Cheers.
