A brand new BBC3 documentary series is looking for serving and retired police officers to tell us about the funniest and strangest things that have happened to them during their career. We’d like to hear about: • The daftest or most incompetent criminals you’ve ever encountered. • The funniest thing that ever happened to you during your time on the force. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us so that we can tell you a bit more about the show. We’d also love to hear your stories. Our programme will provide an insight into best practices, celebrate the achievements of the police and convey a strong central message: Crime doesn’t pay and …

This is actually for advice about the specials but the website is down, so i'd thought i'd come here! I'm applying for the specials intake in september and they've stated that they are not going through the applications until June. Will they do all the recruitment time in 3 months? And where I need advice is, i've had a holiday booked for July, and I'm worried that most of the application process, interview etc are going to take place in july. I told them this and the best they said they could do was put a note in with my application and the exam could be in june. I think this is going to have a detrimental effect on my application.

Hey there, I apologise if this has already been asked! I see it has been, but the thread is from 2008 and I wondered if much had changed. I live in England, special for one force and control room staff for another. I want to come back home to Scotland though and have applied to Grampian as a reg. The timescale of the application isn't really what I'm after (I know from experience its often a 'how long is a piece of string' type of question!), but what to expect in terms of the process. One of my friends applied to L&B Pol and has her SET and fitness on the same day. Is that generally the case? In some ways it would suit me as I'll be travelling up from deep in the c…

Thought I would start a thread for those planning to apply when recruitment opens on the 1/02/12. I myself am planning too, currently working on the fitness element, presuming I get that far of-course. I have been informed the whole process is very quick with L&B, so good luck to everyone!

I know it's far off, and I may not get there. But the medical is part of the process that is most scaring me, I have a high BMI, but i'm active and fit, run a few 10k's here and there. I just think that a BMI is an outdated way of indicating state of someone's health, but it's the part that is going to get me!

I'm sure it was mentioned at the induction that there was a pre read for comeing back to Jackton for the driver training. Anyone remember this or who has came back already dealt with it? Sure there was a website mentioned with information needed.

This application process is hard work! Still no word back from my initial application way back at the start of March. I'm trying to put it to the back of my mind and forget about it, but its difficult as I'm also trying to prepare for the SETS and initial fitness test, so it's always at the forefront of my mind. Every time I see a Postman, I'm on the phone home to see if the dreaded brown envelope has arrived. From the look of all the other posts about interviews and vetting, it doesn't look like it gets any easier either. Hopefully it'll all be worth it!

Anyone seen the new update on the strathclyde website? Seems a lot more community focussed than ever, and it has a nice new coat of paint! Although I did notice some gaps in the new recruitment section, the probaitioner timeline being missing is one of them, as well as pay scales. Hope they can fill in the blanks, I remember it now but I like to go on to refresh my memory every now and then. Also noticed my sub division has completley new priorities, new stuff to remember haha!

Did anybody have an initial interview inside these dates? Heard any news yet? I was told to wait 5 - 10 working days (got 2 more to go) but can't stop staring at the letter box!
