Hi, I have my recruitment day coming up in the next few weeks and feeling a bit under prepared. Im not from Scotland and finding it difficult to find out much info about the area. I have noticed the website has been greatly reduced, and Im worried I won't know much about Grampian Police for the interview. Does anyone know of any other resources I can use to get hold of some local information? Also wondering about the SETs... Are they the sort of exams that you can finish in the time given? Ive been through similar exams in another area but they are designed in such a way that no one has a chance of completing them.

Does anyone happen to have a link to a pensions calculator on the Scots. Fed. site, if one exists. It will also be good if there is a pension advisor available also. Any help will be helpfull.

I've got my fitness test on the 9th March. I'm hoping I'm going to be ok with it, although I had to stop training for 3 weeks because of an injury. Assuming I get through it ok, does anyone know how long there is until the next stage?

I am thinking about applying for the current regs intake but i live in Liverpool. i don't mind moving up there if i am sucessfull as i have family up in Glasgow i could stay with till i got myself sorted out. I was really hoping to get into merseyside but they havent recruited for a while and dont seem to be making any plans to in the forseeable future. im worried that if i dont get in to Strathclyde and then Merseyside open up their recruitment i wont be able to apply. Any advice?

Hi guys! I was in group 4, would be nice to start talking to more people this Sunday though Quick question, what do we bring on Sunday, just our uniform, i.e - boots/shoes, trousers, t-shirt? Or do we need to brig everything, handcuffs etc? Nic<br class="Apple-interchange-newline">

I've heard a couple of times people saying that Drylaw police station was once dubbed "the busiest in Europe". The idea seems to have passed into legend. Does anyone know the origin of this legend? I presume it comes from the '80s. Was it a newspaper article or did some prominent person once call it that? And how might something like this be calculated? Unfortunately, it's rather difficult to do Scottish newspaper searches through the 1980s and early 90s. Hi Folks, I have just sent my application form away for the september 2012 intake for special Constables. I have a few questions and i hope someone will be able to answer them. Will my SET'S , INTERVIEW, MEDICAL ETC , be before september , meaning the 12 week course starts in September. And also how long will the process of SET'S ,MEDICAL ETC take before the 12 week course, just so I know approximately how many days I need off work before the start of the 12 week course. How long does the whole process of becoming a special take? Thanks !

Hey does anyone know if the black shorts required for PE can be cycling short style? I know they sell them in SPRA shop in Jackton beside the running shorts. Finding it tough to get black shorts without much of a logo on them and running shorts really don't do me any favours...thinking about my modesty too for when throwing myself about the gym and hoping short cycling type ones allowed. Also re our own time in the evenings...jeans ok?

Hi I have completed application an have been succesful on SET, and currently waiting for initial interview. I have phoned the office a few times to try and find out any useful info i.e. dates of intake for those succesful, how many positions going etc etc but they have been unable to help. I realise it is a long waiting game but i am travelling from Southampton each time so the more info I have the better! Anyone on this current recruitment campaign that has any useful info please let me know - and well done to anyone else who has passed their SET.

Is it just me or is this process particularly quick so far? Exciting times. On asking, I have been informed that the current recruitment process is just to maintain numbers. How many are to be recruited is not shared and to us candidates, kind of irrelevant. Just do the best we can. Anyone else had their Force Panel dates yet?
