Hi, For those of you that have done your intial interview, did they ask you to give an outline of the probationary period or to recite it week by week? A probationary constable that I spoke to said to learn it week by week but, apparently 2 years ago the course structure was different and easier to learn. It appears difficult to learn, back and forth from Tulliallan to Jackton to Division sometimes only for 1 day I'm worried that I will mess it up during interview!

Police to travel free on Aberdeen buses POLICE officers in the Aberdeen area are being offered free bus travel, it was revealed today. A national bus firm announced its plans to offer Grampian Police officers, community support officers and special constables free bus travel on several routes in the Aberdeen area. Police officers will be able to travel into Aberdeen from anywhere in Aberdeenshire on Stagecoach Bluebird buses without charge. just to let you all know i got my bad news today! failed at vetting stage! absolutely gutted, phoned them up and got no feed back from them! Going to write to vetting team at Pitt Street! Can anyone offer some advice? im devastated dream career snatched away in a second! does anyone know if you can re-apply after failing at this stage? or is it game over and how long before i could re-apply to strathclyde or any other force? would be most greatful for any advice. thanks in advance. In mean time im gonna try out for the fire brigade (my 2nd career of choice) good luck everyone going through this process!

I was shopping yesterday at Next and two female officers had arrested a male in the store (Im pretty sure it was for shoplifting). I was wondering would these officers be able to search this male in store before transporting him back to the Police Station or would they wait till they were back at the station so a male officer could carry out the search as there was no male police officer in the store. If this was the case would there not be a degree of risk for these two officers in transporting the prisoner back to the station if he had not been searched first. I was just wondering what the policy on this would be and how it works?

I think we all can agree that Christmas has arrived!!! :) no snow though So whatever stage you are on of your process I'd like to wish you all a Happy Christmas, you all worked hard so the break is well deserved! Hi I’m new to the forum and like many people I was consideringapplying to become a Special Constable and putting something back into my localcommunity. Unfortunately I missedthe closing date for the applications for December due to my own fault as I didn’tget back from a work commitment in time to fill the application out properly asI didn’t want to rush it and make any silly mistakes. Does anyone know when Strathclyde Police will be advertisingthe next intakes for Specials or would they accept an application just now andkeep in on file until the next recruitment drive ? I was failed my SET but passed the fitness test in beginning of Nov after that I've been just kept waiting till today I got an other letter to invite me to sit the SET and fitness test again, does any one know do I need to take the fitness test again or just the SET? Anyone do the test in the same date as mine too?

I am coming up for 18 and I am interested in becoming a regular , I have been recommended to become a Special Constable first and I am interested in this , I live in a Small town and I am just wondering if yous find it difficult arresting people you know ? As I am just coming up for 18 I just think it would be difficult for me to be a special that young as i may not be able to live my life ? Advice would be Appreciated.
