Police Scotland

Hi I have never been in trouble from the police before but my dad has a couple of minor convictions from years ago, how likely is this to affect me during the vetting process? I have emailed the Recruitment Team with the details of what they are but vetting is carried out via another department so they were unable to give me any indication as to whether this would affect me. After almost 4 years service with the Specials I've decided to resign from my position and my uniform is being returned next week, just thought I'd say it's been a pleasure to work with the force for so many years and I've worked with a great bunch of people (many of those from this forum!).

On the letter inviting me to the interview, it says smart casual. Then it says wear shorts and tshirt. I asked the female who gave me the letter and she said just wear jeans. A friend who is a probationer has just said dont wear jeans or theyll shout at you. Does anyone know what the majority of people wear.

Alright folks, just wondering if anyone who is starting at Fettes on 10th Jan has got their boots/parade shoes yet? Been looking on the net and a pair of Magnums 8.0 wpi have caught my eye but dont know if perhaps should go to the sports store in Fettes and see what they have. Has anyone been to the shop in Fettes and got their kit there or got it off the net? cheers

Hey Was due to start the 11th January but after my medical on 4 November my medical notes were sent to Occupational because of the meds I was on dealing with my dad's Alzheimers(already posted about that) Anyway, got phone call this morning from Occupational health saying the Dr want's to see me on 11 January for a meeting. I am in 2 minds wether that is good or bad. Does anyone know? I thought if it was a definite no then I would get a letter saying re apply in 12 months? My conditional offer has now been changed to 22 Feb. Anybody dealt with this kinda thing? Ps Good Luck to all the January starts x

Hi, I've recently been through the initial recruitment process for Strathclyde police. I was due to sit my initial interview today however there was an issue with my application. In 2009 I went travelling to various countries including Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Australia, New Zealand and America. I was told this morning (2 hours before my interview) that my application would be terminated because I did not have the required security certificates from these countries that were necessary if I had been out of the UK for more than 6 months. Hello I failed to get into Regulars and was advised to do Specials. Put in application for that but was told 12 month wait til can apply for that too. Anyone heard that too? As this was never mentioned by interviewer who recommended I did Specials. thanks
