I am looking to join the police once I finish university, but I am seeing that forces, mainly grampian are starting to recruit again. So tempting to try and apply now but I am not sure whether I should finish university first or just take a chance and go for it..

This is probably aimed at longer serving specials. As this is my first year as a special I am a bit lost. How strictly does the force stick to the guidlines laid out in the specifics of hours worked in order to get the award. I belive it has to be at least 1 tour a month and the year is split into two so you have to do a specific number in the first and second half of the year. I am asking as I think I will deffo be able to hit the 45 tours of duty, but am slightly worried that I may fall slightly short by the time the first six months are up. The specials assigned to my division (A) didnt get to start until about a month and a half after our oath as there was a muck u…

I am adding this on behalf of my friend who starts on this date. She was told she would get a letter 2 weeks before starting, telling her which division she would be based in. She hasnt heard and was told not to phone Jackton to ask. Has anyone been told their division yet?

Hi Just had medical today and they are referring it to Occupational health. They have to contact my GP regarding anti depressants and surgery I had on my leg 5 years ago. The Police Dr told me honestly that I may be rejected and possibly to re apply in a year. Anybody know how long it actually takes for Occupational health to get back to you? Apparently it is the Dr in Occupational Health that decides and not the Dr you see at the medical. Really gutted.... Cannot believe I have got this far and because I am on a light anti depressant to help me cope with my dad having Alzheimer's, I may be rejected. Surely the force has many officers on anti depressants????

Hi all. I know there is a Regs. section but it is somewhat quieter than here so thought to post in here. I got my invitation to attend and undertake the SET and fitness test a week on Friday. I have my run down to under the required time and completed the papers quite comfortably. Does anybody know roughly how long the next steps will take (assuming I pass on Friday)? How long before they contact me again for interviews or even how many people are likely to have been invited for fitness tests and the SET? So far it has taken two months to receive this invitation from submitting my application. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, wondering if anyone who has had their panel interview recently could give any hints as to what they may ask. I have heard they ask you scenario based questions but I have also heard its competency based again, similar to the interview at the A/C. Cheers C

Ok so I've opted for n div as I live there and am fairly close for Coatbridge. However, I'm at the north end of n div, so if I get posted to the opposite end it's going to cost an arm and a leg in fuel. Anyone have any experience of how accommodating the force are with getting a specific sun division? Because if I didn't get Coatbridge I may have been best in a neighbouring division, and even then I could get sent to the opposite end of that division!

Hi, I have just joined the forum however have used it as a source of information for over a year now. I know there's a couple of threads kicking about where people have posted their timelines and saw someones signature where they've set out the different stages they've passed. Since 4.30pm has now passed I thought it would be a good idea to get everyone who's applied in this recruitment cycle to post what stages they are at, their timescales, what they thought of the fitness tests etc. I also guess that some of us may well end up at Tulliallan together if we get through all the stages.... I'll go first... Application Submitted: 24/08/11 - suspect i'll be waiting a wh…

Hi, along with many others I applied during the last recruitment drive. I emailed my application the day before the window closed. I phoned them a few days later to make sure that they had received my application, only to be told there was no record. So I re-sent it with proof of date and time that I had originally sent it. I then received the generic letter that everyone else did. Since then I have not heard a thing. I phoned them again recently and they said that my application is there but no action has been taken yet. Is anyone else in this situation? Would be nice to know that I'm not the only one waiting. J

Wonder if anyone can help , I had my set test today at strathclyde jackton , all went well I had disclosed things I thought was on file , done well on test etc and at the end I was asked to hold back ( my heart sank ) as I've been traing for 6 months for this . I was told by the sergant that when they done checks I had a breach op peace in 2004 when I was 19 . I was totally shocked that I managed to forget this and it upset me . ( me and my friends were walking home after a night out carrying on fighting with one another etc and the police saw and lifted us and I spent 4 hours in the cells for messing around ) this had totally sliped my mind he said a report was sent t…
