Hi All, I am new to the forum and if possible I am after some advice from the more experienced on the forum. I am applying for position of Special Constable and passed my SET's on the 19th Dec'11 and I have an interview date of the 12th Jan'12, I have been looking threw the forum and have seen conflicting posts with regards to the interview. Some are stating that the interview is competency based (ie 4 questions and 5 mins on each one based on police competencies) and other posts are stating it is on your knowledge of general Strathcldye Police policy( ie force policy, divisions, number of officers, etc). I am aware that both types of interview will also require personel …

Hi guys, just thought I would write this post to give people a better idea of the strathclyde police policy on laser eye surgery. I decided to get laser eye surgery after my initial interview was successful as my unaided eyesight was well below the minimum requirement. I had read on the medical guidelines on the recruitment website that the timeframe from getting the surgery done to being accepted was 6 weeks so thought I would be fine by the time medical came around. Unfortunately the full guidelines state that applications can be accepted after 6 weeks but applicants cannot be appointed till 6 months after surgery or you have been full discharged from your optometrist w…

When completing the D2 form, I assume we are looking for categories D & D1 only for minibus (and trailer). Or have people just marked next to everything?

So, is anyone applying? I understand that it's all being done in a view of creating a recruitment pool, but at least we're in the game, right? :)

Hi folks Firstly thanks to Police Constable 1 who dived on me with a welcoming PM as soon as I registered, much appreciated to be liked! I've been toying with the idea of becoming a special for a while and been getting more serious about it, I can't see any barriers really. I know there's a deadline coming up in December for the next intake so if I'm going to jump in I should do so before then. I'm a student at Glasgow Caledonian and I think serving in the force would be a fantastic experience and I genuinely think I've got a lot of varied experience I could bring. I'm only 21 but have worked or volunteered as/in events, computer networking, security/stewarding, charity…

A DEVASTATED wife and her four young children were being comforted this week after her husband, a popular police sergeant, collapsed and died while playing football in Hamilton. The police community were in mourning only five days into the New Year – after Sergeant Barry McGinley suffered a suspected heart attack on the pitch late last Thursday afternoon. He survived by his wife Collette, and four young children, all believed to be under six, including a two-month baby. Very sad news indeed. I worked under Sergeant McGinley many times and he was a great man. Rest in peace - my thoughts are with his family and colleagues. http://www.hamiltonadvertiser.co.uk/news/lo…
