I currently have my application all complete and ready for sending off...problem is I am still at uni and have exams in May. Just wondering how long it is between sending application off and fitness test/ initial Interviews? I have already passed my SETs as previously applied, so may be a little quicker for me??? Don't want to be stressing out with exams and having to study for interviews at same time so trying to hold off as long as I can before I send my application off! Any help much appreciated!

Hi everyone! I'm currently filling out an application to join Strathclyde Police and was wondering if anyone is aware of any particular details about the reference form sent to employers. Is it a character reference or a tick box reference? What information do the police ask for? I'm asking this because I was disciplined in my previous job I'm and worried that it could prevent my application from making it though the vetting stage. Someone noted a while back that references ask for only a confirmation of employment, dates, rather than anything specific. Is this true? Any information regarding this issue would be help me greatly!

Hi all. I'm trying to find out if Scottish Police forces are "Home Office" forces? I have been thinking about applying to Strathclyde as a reg for a while now. Just wondering should I fail any stage of the process would I be barred from applying to other Home Office forces in England say, for 6 months. If you fail any stage in England or Wales you have to wait 6 months to re-apply. But if Strathclyde is non home office is it still the same? Thanks.

Hello all, The CSP forum has been incredibly quiet of late. Just wondering how people are getting on with recruitment and at what stage you are at. Unfortunately I failed at the Assessment Day and need to wait 6 months before reapplying which I no doubt will. I also noticed that CSP Facebook page is showing they are looking for police constables again. Please post if you've been successful or even unsuccessful as it's not the end but just the beginning. Best of luck everyone!!! Jim

Hi March 2012 intake people! I was just wondering who else is doing the timetable two, week long OST training. Are you looking forwards to it? I am, but I'm almost convinced they'll take us out a run. Safe to say if they do I will be put to shame, haha.

Hey all again, On the form I obviously gave details of my tattoos but they are all easily covered up (none on arms etc.) so I dont think that will be a problem. However was just thinking about the piercing side. I have my lip pierced which I have taken out so that should be ok. My ears though have 5 piercings between them. And on my left ear I have my ear stretched to 10mm and a 6mm stretcher on the right ear. I was going to get plugs that are flesh coloured for the interviews but do you think this will matter for the SET/Fitness.....are they purely based on the results of the day? Anyone else have there ears stretched and not sure what to do about. If anyone knows it…

I'm currently running over the Diversity aspect of Strathclyde Police. I know it used to be the Six Strands, which caught me out as it had re-focussed the 9 Characteristics. I subsequently sourced what I could on it and am now working off of this document: http://www.equalityhumanrights.com/advice-and-guidance/new-equality-act-guidance/protected-characteristics-definitions/ Is there an SPF specific document which clearly explains and states the Forces intentions and implementation plans for these? All I can find is what's in the Diversity section of the main Force website as well as the Recruitment section. http://www.strathclyde.police.uk/recruitment/Diversity_Recruit…

Hi Guys About 2 weeks ago, I sent my application for Police Constable off to the recruitment department. Last week, I received a letter saying they have received my application and they are in the middle of processing a large number of them. Just wondering if anyone has any info as to how long it can take before I will hopefully be invited for the SET and fitness ? The reason I ask is because I have had a holiday booked from last year and I am away for 2 weeks in May. Not a problem to cancel however if all goes well with the application process. Many thanks
