I have a conditional offer for the July intake any ideas how far in advance I should book my uniform fitting? Also ladies it says dress shoes for fitting? Any ideas what type?

Hey almost finished doing my application anyone any advice? Have people found the process quite slow?

Girls Are we just turning up suited, fresh faced (great) hair in a bun and flat shoes? Ie, not parade shoes or boots. Friend has told me if we have a bag to carry it and not have it over our shoulder. White shirt that can be buttoned to the top. PE kit in car. Job done?

Has anyone recently went from a special to a regular? If so how long did you serve in the specials and did it increase your chances of getting into the regulars significantly? cheers

I am not going to pass the fitness test - I averaged 15 kg below the required - even had the guy at the gym show me what to do. I thought I would be ok bit with only 2 weeks I'm screwed. Either that I just hammer the gym for the next 2 weeks...

Well after various attempts at getting a resit date for the SET test i have eventually gave up and reapplied for the march 2013 intake recieveing a letter today confirming my application has been recieved . So fingers crossed .

Thought I would get this created to discuss fitness preparation. 29th June 2012 is the date, first thing in the morning. Not sure if all who passed the SET on the 14th May will get this date. A bit chuffed about passing the SET as I had it in my mind I had screwed it up.

I'm pretty much set. Prep all done, stations visited, officers pestered, suit dry cleaned, shoes polished, ID looked out...it'll be all over by this time tomorrow. These aren't nerves I'm feeling, its excitement. Honest...

Alrite guys, just looking to get some information of the guys who are already on the ground. Im in two minds as to join the specials as i have a few pals who are regular cops and all i get from them is that specials are only really for high vis presence and corroboration and that they dont do much. If i were to become a special i would want to be doing more than that.Can any of you provide a better insight into the work you do as a special? Cheers guys

Hi guys!, My name is James. I entered my application on the 15th of April, I had not received any conformation of delivery of my application so I decided to call up just to see if they had received it. The lady on the other end was really helpful but unfortunately informed me that they have a huge backlog of applications! I should hopefully have a letter letting me know if I have passed or failed the sift in another month as there are approx 700 applications ahead of mine. Just thought I would let you guys know just in case there are others in a similar position to me.
