Hi, I applied for police constable with Grampian Police and I received an email yesterday to say I've been invited to the recruitment day on the 31st of August. I firstly have to sit the SET exams and if successful will do the fitness test straight after and if I'm again successful I will have my interview that afternoon. I've been practising the exams and my fitness levels are pretty good so my main worry is the interview so I was just wondering could anyone help me with this?? What kind of questions are asked and how long is the interview and do they mainly focus on the answers you would have given on your application form? Any tips that any one might have would be …

I've got my interview on wednesday, and i've been trying for a while to find a special on duty at both my local stations to try and talk to them. They said that there are none on for another week and that they can't give out details so I can contact them (understandably). The station sergeant said that I should just talk to him and a probationer who has previously been a special instead. Do you think that would be ok for the interview? Or would they expect me to keep tracking one?

I am thinking about trying to set up a informal chat too - i have today just got my letter from Chief Constable Campbell Corrigan saying they had my application and will keep me informed of the next stage. i would like to get some edge from questions that current SC's could help with - there is currently a SC that works along side me at my day job but i a thinking a SC at a station too could be a good idea. I am near maryhill station but can travel. is there maybe any current SC's on here that would be willing to meet on duty? cheers guys

Can someone who is either serving or just joined up explain the stories I've heard about signing your wages away when you first join up. Is it a case of signing money away to your pension etc and if so how much?

I was wondering what happened to the idea of centralised custody suites in Strathclyde. I remember a few years ago reading that Strathclyde were looking at this. I was wondering with 2013 being the year the new Scottish police force comes into being could this idea be resurrected? Would it allow officers to stay out on the beat or would it be a complete waste of time & money & actually mean that officers time would be wasted???

I've searched for a topic that would answer my questions but I've found nothing. What is the actual difference between Scotland Police to the police in England and Wales? I understand that Scottish police cannot use their warrant card in England or Wales. Could someone please answer the following questions? What is the arrest statement given before making an arrest? What is their standard issue uniform and kit? What are the pay scales? What's the difference between the paperwork etc? Any answers are appreciated, and if you have any more information then please post it! PS- does anyone have any good images of Police officers from Scotland?

I wanted to hear other opinions on what everyone else has done or is planning to do with regards visiting a probationer before initial interview. I have a few questions. Is it best to prearrange or just turn up? If prearrange then what phone number to call, I obviously don't want to waste time by calling a contact centre as if i'm reporting a crime or is that what I do? Call community team? If it isn't prearranged then what time is best? Someone said to aim for shift changeover times as this is when most people will be around but I can't find that information anywhere. What to wear? I have no objections rocking up in a suit but didn't want to seem presumptuous if nobo…

Just got my boots for starting on the 7th Nov from a place in glasgow called Adventure 1 (behind queen at station), got a discount as I said it was for the police. Got lowe Vebratums and parade shoes for £151, the boots alone should have been £156!

Could someone tell me how long you are on the initial wage for, I.e. before you get your first pay rise. It says on the Strathclyde website you get a rise after initial training, is that after your first ten weeks at at Tulliallan?
