Right I just thought that I would start off this thread to see just who is actually active in this forum. It has gotten a bit quiet! So maybe if you can post to let us know you are active in the forum and maybe a wee bit about yourself i.e. are you a special or a reg or applying etc? At this moment I am going to be starting with Grampian Regs later this month

Hello I have my senior interview coming up. I need advice from fresh new recruits that JUST passed it.. I spoke to 2 probationers and both interviews were different one never was asked about different situations for example "if your senior officer took a sweetie from a store without paying for it, what would you do?" Has anyone just done the SENIOR interview yet?

Just wondering should I learn full probationer timetable for my final interview, which is on Thursday! All 5 modules Week 1 - Week 104. I wasnt able to rhyme it off for my intial and feel it may be checked at final? Although others assure me, that the final is a far more relaxed interview based less on knowledge and more on the Persons perosnality and opinions.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help!? I'm starting my probation for Strathclyde in Feb, but I'm planning to get married in October/November this year. Is it easy to book days off being a probationer? Is there a process I have to follow? Any comments will help (my fiancée is trying to book venues) Thanks

Quite an interesting article although I'm not sure I can see PDAs being rolled out across Scotland any time soon. The PDAs used here in L&B are quite hit and miss. They can struggle with handwriting and are quite old so struggle to run newer iterations of various pieces of software installed on them. It also limits what Specials can and can't do as we are not issued with them. When they do work they can be very useful though. Would you like to have such a device or are you more than happy using a pen and paper?

Hey guys, Just wanted to know if anyone had a list of start dates for early 2013 and how they would be effected if they overlapped into the Police Service of Scotland. I have my final interview on tuesday and I am extremely nervous. Going over scenarios and stats just now. Anyone who recently passed your final...what was the processing following it? does it vary, cause there is a lot of people who say all three parts (final, medical and fitness) happen in one week and others who say it can stretch over a month?

http://www.bbc.co.uk...slands-20495016 Northern Constabulary has amended its guidance to officers on their use of handcuffs when detaining people. The force said the restraints were to be used in a considered way and not in a "blanket fashion". The guidance follows a complaint against the force from a man who said his wrists were injured when he was handcuffed while being detained. The Police Complaints Commissioner for Scotland (PCCS) said the use of the restraints had been unreasonable. In a report published in June, commissioner John McNeill said the man was handcuffed as routine procedure, rather than based on any risk he posed. He recommended that Northern Cons…

Passed my initial into vetting 2 weeksago, however on reviewing and thinking about things I may have my national insurance number wrong. Who would be best to contact? Is there a way to directly contact the force vetting, or do I go through the recruitment team? Cheers, DarkAlex P.S Is me or does the application not save properly/Juggle things around?

Hi all I'm going to D and G on Saturday to sit my SET - If i'm successful it's conceivable that i'll be in the last ever intake for this force as it exists at the moment. So with April looming, what are peoples thoughts on the merging of all the constabularies to create a single force?

Unfortunately i failed the vetting process I have however submitted a review to get the decision overturned. I myself have never been in trouble with the police and rthe only reason that they know my name is because of my applications to them lol At the time of my application i declared all my family with criminal convictions that i was aware of. But once i failed it came to my attention of a cousin with quite a bad record to say the least. My letter of review is a really good one, spent alot of time on it. But now it's just the waiting game. Should hear back before the 17th of september weather the decision gets overturned or not. I obviously really hope it doe…
