hi, looking for info. i start in a few weeks time and was talking to officers the other day who were asking if id looked at the shift patterns. now i did when i applied and was studying for interviews. and i know the shift times but i cant remember the pattern ie 2e 2b 2n 4r? there used to be a link on strathclyde site with an example but i hadnt copied it down and its not on the new police scotland site It is more for curiosity than anything. my boyfriend was wondering how often we would end up with a day off together so was wanting to try work it out. my sister is police staff and she does 6on 4 off constantly but i remember the pattern seemd to be more random like …

Hi Folks. How's things? I'm sure there are a few folk out there in the same position as myself in that you're in the recruitment pool waiting for final fitness or confirmation on which intake you'll be going on! I just wondered if anyone had heard anything with regards to this? i.e. Intake dates, amounts. Cheers Cheers

After vetting, what else happened before your start date? Did you get your job offer after passing vetting? Any heads up for the medical? Thanks!

Had really bad news from recruitment today that I have failed initial vetting! I recently had a fine from the DVLA for failure to insure (Not to be confused with driving without insurance). It's a new rule some of you may be aware of, that vehicles uninsured, even if you are not using the vehicle and its taxed, must be declared to the DVLA that it is off road. I was unaware of this new rule and I received a £50 fixed penalty fine but no points. Really gutted as I've been working really hard preparing for my assessment centre at the end of August. I am going to appeal, do you think there is much chance of this being overturned? Thanks

Hey, I've sent off my application to PS for the SC recruitment thats ongoing right now, how long is the wait normally for any news back? Is it just when they have enough applications together for an intake or are there specific dates?

Hello, I'm considering applying for Police Scotland at some point, as my wife to be and I are seriously considering moving back to Edinburgh or somewhere near. She's from Aberdeen, I was born in London. Does anyone have any experience of English police officers working in Scotland? Do you get significantly more abuse from the public? I don't mean to push stereotypes, but I can't help but think certain members of the public might not take too kindly to an authority figure in a uniform telling them what to do with an English accent. Maybe I'm just clinging on to stereotypes and should forget about it, but it's a concern! I love Edinburgh, so I'm sure I'd love to police th…

Hello to all, I am currently an SC with Northumbria Police and have been serving for just over a year now. As you all know, recruitment in England is at an all time low and intakes are few and far between. I have spent many a happy time in Scotland and would seriously moving up there, not just for a Police career but also for the quality of life and the joys of working with the Scottish people. My main concern is the fact I am only an SC and am still living south of the border which I assume would be a negative when my application was considered although I hope my experience in and out of the Police would be a great advantage. There is also the worry of the 12 month wait…
