Hi all, I wanted to start a new topic for anyone who's due to be starting as a PC up at the Scottish Police College in August this year. Thought it might be worth some of us getting in contact before training starts. The start date I've been given is Wednesday the 24th August. Anyone else on here starting then too? Cheers

Hi all Purely for Police Scotland applicants. I thought we had to provide details of all financial outgoings, but the form only mentions loans, credit cards, car loans, etc. The guidance notes and the question on the form make no mention of other outgoings such as council tax, regular bills, mobile phone, other living expenses - I would have thought a more complete picture of finances would be required other than just loan type commitments. I'm sure at the recruitment day we were told to supply all details. Any experience please? Thanks.

Hi All, Looking for advice relating to the force medical and in particular the hearing test. I have been referred to my GP with a view to being referred to an ENT clinic. This is due to an issue in my right and left ear. Optima, the force occupational health team stated that my hearing in both ears does not meet the criteria. I took this to my GP who found this questionable. My GP advised me to go private instead of waiting months to be seen by the NHS. I undertook a private, independent hearing test, the results showed that I had in fact no hearing issue in my left ear. My right ear showed signs of minor hearing loss, the score I produced at the force medical was 30% h…

Is anyone joining in the above intake? I am hoping but it's not looking hopeful as I'm still waiting for paperwork to come in. Rather annoying as I applied March 2015 and everything is left very last minute. Still not got medical results!

Hi all, I have an application in for Police Scotland, and I am very much looking forward to seeing where things could go. When I get in, and if I pass out my 2 year probation, I would, at some point, like to join the Army Reserves to build on personal, and professional skills. Is this possible? Thanks.

Hi all There is already some postings here ref the dreaded beep test. I'd prefer a 1.5 mile run to honest. There is definitely a bit of technique applicable here besides the obvious aerobic fitness required - ie. timings, turning, rhythm, speeding up. I'm no spring chicken at 47. I've practiced the beep test twice now in between normal running activity. I reached 6.7 on 2nd attempt - required level for my age is 8.2. In England it's 5.4! Although I exercised regularly before I started police prep, I never used to run. I've been running for about 3.5 weeks now. How has anyone else found the beep test on first attempt? I use the beep MP3 from the Police Scotland websit…

Hi all Are there any current serving Aberdeen City or Shire Specials on here? I am conducting job research for my application and would like to chat or possibly meet up with a Special to discuss job experience specific to my area. If happy to meet up I suggest at a station and presentation of ID/warrant card for security reasons. Thanks.

I've applied to be a special constable with Police Scotland and I'm currently awaiting a date for my SET, my biggest concern is that I'm diagnosed with epilepsy and have been since I was 10 (I'm now 23) I haven't had "full" seizure since I was 16 and very little epileptic activity after that, I used to suffer "partial absences" due to migraines which I have been free of for near enough 2 years, I'm still medicated for epilepsy but I no longer have to see a specialist regarding it so it is no longer an issue in my life, my main question is, will my previous history bar me from joining or will the fact that it's well controlled and my last seizure was 7 years ago go well in…
