I am currently in the last 12 months of service in the RAF. I am looking for advice and experiences from people who applied during their last 12 months and if successful would I be able to start training during my terminal leave.

Hi. I have my SET and fitness test on November 27th and I've just been doing some of the practice papers. For the maths paper I notice on the website it advises that use of a calculator is permitted when completing the numbers paper however on the actual test paper on the website it says that use of a calculator is not permitted. Pretty confusing right? Can anyone who has recently done the SET's advise if a calculator was allowed for the maths paper?

Just thought I would update people and ask a question. So I sent off my application for police scotland specials on 22nd of august, I received a e-mail today to say that I had been invited to attend an initial fitness test up in Jackton on the 3rd november at 9 am lol. I was hoping if someone who has done it up in Jackton could tell me what to expect? They also request that I bring photo id is there like lockers there, since I dont really want to be jogging/running with my drivers licence in my pocket in case it comes out. Thanks

Why do we not see any Police Scotland social media pages directly commenting on the work of its special constabulary (e.g. @PolScotSpecials) or have I missed them? As a serving special with BTP in Scotland, I regularly keep up to date with various BTP twitter feeds, including @btpspecials and @btpclifford (our specials CO). I know police scotland don't operate the special constable rank structure and I wonder the affect that has on things like promoting the specials work and engaging with the community through social media, amongst other things. To say I am a little sceptical about transferring to police scotland as a special come 2019 is an unders…

Hi folks, have just applied for the above position, while I know it is similar to a detention officer type role in England, could anyone give me a bit more information about it? I'm currently event security and nightclub door staff looking to explore new opportunities.

Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum so apologies I am still find my feet. I am looking to see If anyone is at the same stage as me and see what information people have? I have passed interview and assessment centre (back at end of August 2017) and I am about to head back to Aberdeen for my final fitness/medical etc an the end of this month with a possible start date during the December intake (however this has not been 100% confirmed yet). Anyone who is at roughly the same stage as me, would be good to chat and compare information. Thanks Lisa

Hi, I am at the start of the recruitment process with my SET and Fitness taking place soon. I have been diagnosed with Contact dermatitis, however its mild on my hands and rarely flares up. does anyone know if this can result in your application being terminated? Thanks for any help.

Hi, was wondering if anyone could tell me what job knowledge questions to expect for the initial interview as i am completely drawing a blank when i go to write down response answers to the whole thing. Also, are there any other off the mill type questions apart from competency/job knowledge. Any help is appreciated!

Hi, I have my initial interview in 2 weeks time, I am nervous and struggling to understand certain aspects of the interview. What are the interviewers looking for during competency based questions?(is it just to see if you have a basic understanding of the competencies?) How many questions are there in total in relation to job knowledge and competencies? Finally, when asked about job knowledge are you left to spiel out as much as you know or is it just a specific question about the probationary period ext.? Any other tips are much appreciated!

Hello, I was wondering if there were any current probationary officers i could talk too prior to my initial interview (5th September) i tried to go down to my local station and see f anyone there was available but since i'm in a very small town the police station is also tiny and nobody was able to speak apparently. Just want to ask a couple questions (via pm) about what your main tasks and things you are doing currently as a PO, how you are finding the job, and a few others questions in regard to initial interview. thanks in advance.

Hey everybody. I was fortunate enough to have passed my AC. Got the phone call yesterday. I was the first person to have been interviewed and had to leave right after so I was not able to take down the details of any other recruit before leaving. I guess the idea slipped my mind due to focusing so hard on the actual AC throughout the day. Anybody else here do the AC at Jackton this past Thursday? It seemed to be mostly Edinburgh folk and it would be great to find out who was successful and keep in touch. Regards Mr Fender
