Does anyone have, or know anyone who has managed to successfully pass a medical after previously suffering from a brief period of anxiety and stress? This was situational due to some pretty awful life circumstances, and lasted for about a month or two. It resolved itself with a week off work for stress and a brief course of sleeping tablets and a few days of prescription of a relaxant medication. No antidepressants etc though, mainly just counselling for a couple of months. No history of mental illness prior to this, and no issues since. Curious as to whether or not this has affected anyone during the medical. It would be about a year symptom free by the time of the medic…

Hi there I was wondering if there are any fellow type1 diabetics here that have been successful in applying? I was devastated to have been diagnosed a couple of years ago and thought I had to give up my plans of applying until I recently found out you can still be considered if you have strick good control. I'm just interested to know if there are others in the process?

Hi everyone, Wondering if anyone has any experience or has heard of anyone rejoining the police after leaving during their probation? I left 18 months in to do teacher training as I'd been on light duties for four months with a hip injury and had always wanted to try teaching - and I've realised I made a huge mistake. Absolutely gutted. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

quick question - would being prescribed a 2 day dose of diazepam (2mg) for short term sleep issues due to short term circumstantial stress potentially lead to someone failing the police Scotland recruitment medical for police officers? If this was a one off case and occured over 6 months previously? Any advice you can give of any similar experiences would be much appreciated.

Just to wish everyone on the Scottish forums a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. 🥳 The forums have been very informative for most of us this year, everyone sharing tips and giving encouragement.👍 Some of us have succeeded, some failed in our quest to job Police Scotland but at least it is exciting. 🎅🏻 🌲 🎁 🍺 🍷

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I am currently in the process of applying for Police Scotland, and just wanted to advice on the rules for overtime if I was to be successful. In my current role I make a good wage and would be taking quite a dramatic drop in yearly pay (although I am happy to do this as I am not happy in my current job) I know that when you initially start you are on just less than £27,000 a year, but is there an ability to up this with doing lots of overtime, or is this something that you cannot do when you first start? Thanks.

Good evening, I hope you're all well. I had previously seen a post with reference to the kit and equipment carried by officers when out on the ground, however, I have lost track of where this information is within all these forum topics. If anyone has this information or knows the location of this post I would be very grateful. Many thanks Chris.

I have my SET on Friday 30th, I’m just wondering how soon after do you get the results? And how long is the interview date after you find out?

Hello, I was just wondering if Police Scotland would be changing their SET test. I had heard they were going to make some changes, this would then allow those who have failed the SET and were unable to reapply to then apply. Apologies if this is in the wrong section to post this in.

Well folks, somehow I failed my initial. Whilst I expected to fail in one or two competencies, I did not expect to fail in all bar effective communication. I'll call during the week to get some proper feedback but has anyone been in a similar situation or can offer any advice for when I go back the next time and smash it? Many thanks
