Hi there, I have my assessment day soon and it is the new style one with the Competency and values based interview. Before lockdown my orignal old style assessment day was cancelled and i had been studying competancy interview questions etc. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they had been through this new version and what I could expect regarding the questions etc. Thanks in advance

Just wondering if I can get an insight of someone who has completed their training course. Im due to start my course soon and I’m worried as I’m not the best academically! Maybe a little below average, I didn’t do to well in school. Can someone tell me what the testing is like and how hard the course is to pass. I'm much more of a practical person rather than theory and academics. So I’m just wondering the stages and level of difficulty the law/theory/classroom based stuff is and how difficult the exams are. I’m a person who worries about failing things so any advice, tips and experience’s would be great to know so I could prepare myself a littl…

Hello! I just got an email regarding my upcoming Assessment day. Passed my SET just before lockdown and honestly I didn't think much else will happen this year . Only 2 weeks left now, work just got crazy and I just managed to get 2 days off before my big day! I was wondering if anyone has the Assessment day planned soon, or if you have any tips for how to do the best on the day. I'm a foreigner, so I'm starting to worry that maybe even my English levels will drag me down 🤦🏼‍♀️ I know the day consists in an icebreaker presentation and a couple of group exercises, followed by an interview in the pm. I'm extremely nervous, I've been planning this for…

My oral exam will be coming up soon with police scotland however I'm finding it rather confusing... Advice from Tulliallan was to read over all your essential elements and definitions and you'll be fine, I get how that works for the first two parts of the oral exam (Knowledge + Critical Intervention) but I cant understand where the "justification" part of the question comes from. For instance I've been looking at breach of the peace, I would assume the knowledge part would just be the definition of breach of the peace... Critical Intervention - FPN? Justification - Is it as simple as breaking down the definition and showing that all the essential eleme…

Hi everyone. Not been on these forums for a while but a wee bit of background. Former Special with Police Scotland before leaving to try for a career in the Army which wasn’t for me and then trying various different retail type jobs. Just submitted what is my 4th application to become a regular with Police Scotland and hoping for success with the new recruitment process and ultimately - better preparation! I currently live in V Division. There is a waiting list of 2-3 years for applicants wanting to work here and 18 months for Ayrshire. I am just wondering if anyone here commutes from one Division to another and how you find it? I was thinking about…

Hi everyone, I'm currently in the new process awaiting a fitness test date before the AC. I'm wondering if anyone had a wedding/honeymoon planned and booked in advance of applying to PS. Mine has been booked since early last year and I'm now worrying my leave period won't fall when these are. Another issue is that I would require 3 weeks off. Is leave under these circumstances normally granted from experience and for this length of time? Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if there are any Police Officers, or Police Scotland applicants, who are working; have worked; have applied to work within L Division? Particularly the Argyll area. I have the chance to change my preference to this area and I am tempted but unsure if it's the right move long term. I was wondering a few things: - Do you/did you enjoy working within L Division? Were you kept busy enough or is it mostly quiet? (I am from Ayrshire so used to busy populated towns of around 35,000 as opposed to smaller towns of 4,000). - Does the area provide the chance to specialise without having to transfer away for opportunities? My main three areas of interes…

Hi folks, Just wondering what the gym setup is for training before/after each day at Tulliallan? Do you require membership? If so is it easy to setup during training or better prior? Also wondering if the gym has weights or if it is a cardio zone.
