Hello Everyone, i've joined this site as i'm really interrested in Forensic science and would like to change career to something in soco. I've written to my local constabulary, Cambridgershire, to try and get on an observation day and generally have a chat with people that do this job. However they don't do observation days anymore so told me to try and get in touch with some people that do the job for an informal chat. My other half is a PC but doesn't know anyone in soco very well to introduce me so i thought i'd join this site to see if there's anyone out there who can give me some advice. It would be great to chat. regards, Kelicsparkle

WASHINGTON, March 8 Lawmakers are concerned about a Department of Homeland Security computer system that mines personal information about U.S. citizens as it looks for terrorists. The U.S. Homeland Security Department is testing the ADVISE -- for Analysis, Dissemination, Visualization, Insight and Semantic Enhancement -- system, which the Government Accountability Office is investigating at the request of U.S. Rep. David R. Obey, D-Wis., to see if it violates privacy laws, The Washington Times reported. Data the system can mine include credit card records, telephone and Internet usage, medical records and travel and banking information. The newspaper …

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO, HE IS THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF (ARIZONA) AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN These are some of the reasons why: Sheriff Joe Arpaio created the "tent city jail" to save Arizona from spending tens of million of dollars on another expensive prison complex. He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them. He banned smoking and porno magazines in the jails, and took away their weightlifting equipment and cut off all but "G" movies. He says: "they're in jail to pay a debt to society not to build muscles so they can assault innocent people when they leave." He started ch…

A truck driver is cruising along when he spots a little yellow man standing in the middle of the road, crying. He brings the truck to a standstill, rolls down the window, and asks the little man what's wrong. "I'm yellow, I'm from Venus, I'm gay and I'm hungry," sobs the little man. "Well," says the trucker, "I can offer you a cheese sandwich, but that's as much as I can do." So he passes a sandwich to the grateful little man and drives off. A bit later he has to stop again, because there's a little red man in the middle of the road, crying. So he comes to a halt, rolls down the window and a bit more impatiently - asks the little man what the matter is. "I'm red, I'm…

Last Minute Larrys leave it until the very last minte before pushing in when there's a lane closure. Fog Light Freds Ooooh, it's dark. Must need fog lights. Middle Lane Martins The inside lane will give them a nasty disease. They can't possibly use it. Hell, they're doing 70, aren't they? But worst of all are the HGV Horaces Who seem to think that 40mph in the contraflow does not apply to them, and that if they breathe down your neck, it shouldn't apply to you either. Grrrrrrr Any more?

http://www.policeoracle.com/news/detail.cfm?id=13080 As far as I'm aware, police don't know who's responsible at the moment. It's a shame that it wasn't his toilet that had been taken. I'd have been able to say police have nothing to go on at the moment. Any more ideas?

Hello Being security concious I am astonished & frightened by what I've come to learn about through work and via the internet. The subject is Key Bumping. I have seen a short video showing just how easy it is to perform. Also I've seen various bumping kits available to joe public on the internet. Does anyone have further knowledge of this? I'm told most insurance companies won't pay out if there are no signs of forced entry. I'm currently looking into purchasing a front and back door lock to replace the standard eurolock as fitted. I've seen a few different types available such as coded + key. Would anyone be able to recommend a good quality replacement? …

Poor old Sir Ian Blair, more criticism from one of his Police Authority members. He was sitting at the same table at a Jewish Dinner, as Lord Levy, two weeks ago. The police authority member was questioning Blair's judgement at sitting at the same table. He said he hoped they had not dicussed the Cash for Honours probe. Poor Ian doesn't seem to be able to get much right these days. Story on Police Oracle News page.
