Got something to say about your day, but it doesn't warrant a thread of it's own? Then here's the place to post it!

Hullo, I am interested in how CID is structured and where they are stationed? For instance, in the Metropolitan area are the station by borough, or does each ward have a CID department? How are they organised within units? What fiction, TV shows, show a good representation of CID? thank you

Platinum Jubilee 2022

Hello all. What are your plans for HM’s Platinum Jubilee 2022? I hope (not working) to go to central London, on the Thurs 2nd and bimble about the Mall, Palaces, Horse Guards and watch all the action. Imagine there will be lots of police, military etc and hoping my spotting skills will be up to scratch! Quite a feat for a head of state - Sovereign or not - to do 70 years on the throne. Then I have a big lunch on the Sunday. This is the last Platinum we shall likely see for many many years and is the first of course.

Non police investigation jobs
by 1TILL5- 5 replies

I've posted about leaving force on here many times and probarly bored everyone to death about it. On fence about trying to rejoin however also looking into other jobs which may have some elements of policing without going back in. I've seen dozen of civil service agencies employ investigators but I worry most roles will go to retired officers in particular retired DCs. Also I've seen lot of financial investigator roles in public and private sector however the route into this area of work doesn't seem easy. Long shot but Wonder if anyone has any experience or useful info about the above.

OK folks So in the new year we are looking to have a bit of a spring clean. We'll be reviewing all forum areas and content so don't be surprised of some things move around a bit. With that in mind is there anything you would like to see more of? Less of? Something new? The forum is only as good as it's members and it you folks that make it worthwhile. All suggestions will be considered so don't hold back. I shall try to answer any questions you may have on here. but if you want to message me directly then I can assure you I will remain anonymous (if that's what you want). One we start to make any changes I shall endeavour to document them all into …

What would you like to see on this forum? What can we do to make this place better for everyone or just for you? We are looking for your ideas. It could be something you've always longed for in a forum, or maybe it's something you've seen on another forum that you think would be good on here. Let us know your ideas. All ideas will be considered although if it is very outlandish it probably won't be considered for long. It can be anything at all no matter whether you think it can or can't be done, leave that bit up to us. Please put your suggestions below or if you would rather not say them out loud, then please feel free to DM me and I promise, yo…

Driving Familiarisation - any tips?

I have a driving familiarisation coming up for the Red Cross. It will be in either a Land Rover Defender 110 type or a Land Rover Discovery, not sure which. (Basic familiarisation, not emergency or anything like that.) Both are marked BRC vehicles, I've not driven a LR before, any tips? I have driven a Volvo XC90 & Toyota SUV thing before, but that was automatic. This is for a fleet support role (volunteer), so will eventually be moving their ambulances and ERUs around the region. Thanks.

Running

I have started fitness training for a Reservist role. The Role I’m after requires 1.5mile treadmill run in just over 11 min. I workout about 5/6 times a day, play physical sports now and then and I’m in ok shape so thought it’d be ok but I’m way way off. I know only real solution is practise but main sort of question is how long it took people to make progress. I’m happy to work hard but with weight training it took between a year / two years to notice any sort of real improvement so hoping it’s not the same with running? just wondering if anyone has any experience with improving run times? main issue I have is the treadmill feels so I na…

Armistice Day / Remembrance Day 2021

What are you doing for this year's Armistice (Thurs 11th) or Remembrance Sunday days (Sun 14th) ? On duty? In tunic order or everyday kit? At home with family? Ex-forces etc? * I'm not in service yet, but hopefully will be soon, so spending it with family members (some are military) and attending a couple of parades. Remembering those brave men and women (lots very young) seems very important to me. 11 / 11 / 2021

So does anybody have any recommendations of twitter feeds to follow? I'm not looking for any police related ones per se, more fun, funny, poignant, inspiring, informative that sort of thing. Having said no Police related ones I am of course going to plug our own twitter feed which is @polcomforum Please do feel free to post your own of you like A few of my faves are: Angry People in Local Newspapers @angrypiln This highlights all the people in local papers pointing at holes in the ground or looking angry with their arms folded. It must be day 1 of newspaper photographers school to get people to pose in silly and awkward poses RAF_Luton @RAF_Luto…

Tears for Tiers

So with the country now in different tiers with different restrictions how's it going for you? No need to say which tier you are in if you don't want to but how is it affecting you and what you do? I'm wondering mainly how the different restrictions around the country are affecting every day life. I am personally in a tier 3 area but I must say it hasn't changed much for me over the last 9 months. I don't go out much at all as I can work from home and I have my shopping delivered. It worries me a bit about what is going to happen at Christmas but that is weeks away yets so things may change. I'm very sad that I can't go out with friends and colleagues…
