So Volvo are not going to be selling diesel and petrol cars as from 2019. That should be interesting. If that does eventually set a trend, I wonder how the various oil producing countries will view that, and what affect that will have on the UK government's thoughts with regards to taxes, currently on fuel ? At least the UK won't have to worry themselves about getting involved in various countries with oil being the motivation.

What a terrible, terrible thing to happen. I hope the final fatality figures are low, but given the time of the incident, sadley, I think that may be a touch optimistic.

Evening ladies and gents, Hoping there's some DIY experts or ex British Gas bods on here who can help me with an issue Came down this morning to find my boiler switched off and can't get it to turn back on again, seemed fine last night but seems like there's no power going to it No recent power issues in the house and plugged a lamp into the outlet which worked fine, changed the fuse on the boiler plug and had a look under the covering but nothing looks out of place so I'm completely stumped One thing that was odd was that the pressure was up at 3 bar as opposed to the 1 bar cap I usually *religiously* keep it at, but other than that it's come out of nowhe…

Morning all, mods I thought this was the most relevant area but please feel free to move if you disagree! Anybody on here work/live in Glasgow? Going to TRNSMT festival on the green in July and driving in every day from a hotel in East Kilbride, any advice on where to park in the city where I'm; A) likely to get a space B) not going to be extorted for the pleasure - likely to be parked for a full day C) easily walking distance from the green Any help would be appreciated! I'd imagine getting the last train would be a push so would rather drive but if you know of any Park & Rides or similar advice would be welcomed Cheers Alex

Obviously there's going to be a few Special Constables on here... but other than that (as they have their own forum section!)... It would be interesting to know what other voluntary roles people have got or have previously held - in any organisation, not just policing. I've volunteered in a charity shop previously, but nothing at the moment. Thinking about volunteering again, but not sure what to do.

Cat 7 is Best Informative Police account - I imagine this forum via its Twitter feed will have a strong chance of winning, the Twitter feed is informative, funny and provides links to interesting discussion which is unique on the interweb. I would urge everyone to vote for this forum, its a fantastic resource. Not least one of the founders of the awards is a member of this forum!

I do of course realise that how people vote is a very personal thing indeed. However, how on earth can Ms.May, now that she has launched the tory manifesto, expect senior citizens to give her their vote, having said that her party are in favour of, eg, the abolishing of the triple lock system on state pensions, abolishing the heating allowance (also being called the dementia tax) to name just two policies of hers, and there are others. Pensioners will be shooting themselves in the foot surely. It's like turkeys voting for xmas as they say.

With the results of the local elections showing that UKIP is now a spent political force will they do the honourable thing and go away? I said some time ago that the EU Referendum was the end of UKIP as the result makes them pointless. I expect they will hang on until the General Election but surely this will just add to their embarrassment. To lose 114 council seats is, in anyone's book, an unmitigated disaster. I suppose in the general election they can't go any lower than no MPs but their share of the vote will surely take the same nose dive as it did this week. I say anyone would consider it a disaster, of course some UKIP diehards won't see it that way. Like Fara…

So who else is watching, go on admit it! I love the ESC and some of the entries seen so far are fantastic (though not a fan of the Netherlands entry). Will be interesting to see the reaction to Lucie Jones though, most entries are upbeat and ours is quite mellow in comparison.

A North Yorkshire fire crew attending a 999 call was sent to the wrong address by a control room based more than 400 miles away. The Harrogate crew was wrongly sent two and half miles from where it should have been by call operators working in Cornwall. North Yorkshire and Cornwall fire and rescue services share control room operations at peak periods. The North Yorkshire service confirmed an investigation is under way.
