Hi all, as means of introduction, I'm an Australian ex-SAS doctor who now works as Medical Director for TacMed Australia. In light of the increased threat of transnational terrorism and the spate of mass-casualty blast and gunshot terror attacks in the streets of our cities, I have been writing articles relating to ballistic trauma with the hope to educate and better prepare Police Officers, Law enforcement and other first-responders for the contingency. The following link is to my most recent article on the wounding profile of blast injuries, which draws on personal experiences of casualties from war zones. http://tacmedaustralia.com.au/graphic-wounding-patterns-bla…

I think I've mentioned this before on the forum but I think its worth mentioning again given the news that the lowest paid in society had the largest % pay rise last year. This came about because of the 3% rise in the minimum wage and when the living wage comes in they will continue to benefit. All that is all well and good but MPs will also benefit because future increases in their wages are now linked to the average rise of public sector wages. Any above inflation rise in the min wage for state sector workers will therefore translate into a wage rise for them which is also above inflation rate. IIRC MPs got a 1.5% pay rise this year whereas we got 1% and this is lik…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-37729095 Completely agree - teach parents of kids with autism the necessary skills to help bring up, and support, their offspring as well as they can. Good for the children, the family and society in general when the children grow up. While they're at this 'teaching parenting' thing, how about they teach the parents of non-autistic children, some skills to actually be useful parents? God knows that some of them could do with some training - calling the police because your 8-year old daughter is "kicking off" is not a demonstration of 'good parenting'.............

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37743510 I grew up reading Dredd and Rogue Trooper amongst others in 2000AD............one of the artists, Steve Dillon, died yesterday. I know his passing won't mean a great deal to a lot of people, but I couldn't let it go without mentioning it. I saw the headline and had a "Oh no" moment..........

I get really annoyed when I read solicitor's mitigation following their client's conviction in court. One I read today contained three scores on the bingo board with: He is his partner's carer He dealt drugs to fund his own habit He has expressed a willingness to co-operate with the probation service. What can you add?

Dear Colleagues On 5th November 2016, student officers from Cohort 4C and 4D of West Yorkshire Police will be taking part in a charity event. This will consist of completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge in less than 10 hours. The charity they have chosen is COPS (Care of Police Survivors) Care of Police Survivors (otherwise known as COPS) is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives whilst on duty. We aim to ensure that survivors have all the help they need to cope with such a tragedy, and that they remain part of the police family as they rebuild their lives. They would very much lik…

..........might be institutionally corrupt? Whoever would have thought it? All that money............leading to more greed....... What is, almost inspired, is that the players can be given a payrise by their manager, on the basis that they'll give the manager some of it back. If only I'd thought about that when I had a proper job and negotiated a payrise........... All that money.............I wonder where it came from........

Hi All, This is my first post of PoliceUK. I would like to ask anyone if they could help in relation to my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather (Patrick Daly) who was a Metropolitan Policeman in London in April 1871 (Census). He lived in Paddington and Chelsea. I was still a Policeman in 1881 (Census). In May 1905 he was a Police Pensioner (Census). I would be grateful if anyone could help with research of Patrick or any organisation? Thanks in advance! Adam

Apparently, Labour's NEC have given the go-ahead for Corbyn to be on any ballot paper. It is being said that he will get pretty much the same overall support from Labour activists in the event of a general election. I just don't understand why they would want to risk Labour losing another general election, because if the pundits are right, that's what's likely to happen, and Labour will be in the doldrums for a very long time to come.
