I first heard of this alarming report, early this morning on Radio 4 and then read the full story on the Princes Trust website. Today's Guardian provides a hyperlink to a synopsis. I know that I have already seen the thin edge of this with a 17 year old two days before Christmas. I am not surprised and believe this is going to worsen with the current downturn. http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2009/jan/05/mental-health-depression-young

Now i'm a young man and would in no way consider myself a fuddy duddy but I'm angry at how almost every advertisement I see today is using sex to sell a product. I give a two examples below Nude to sell Perfume? Naked to promote heart charity? Don't even get me started on product placements in films. Anyone else noticed this? Or am I on my own? Now we have the truth, Teflon Blair, giving a speech at Yale University, said that the ten years of economic growth from 1977 to 2007 was down to LUCK, not Gollum Browns brilliance as chancellor. Nothing like sticking the knife in, and turning it at the same time. He did forget to say that he was the worst PM ever.

The team behind the global phenomenon "The Da Vinci Code" returns for the highly anticipated "Angels & Demons," based upon the bestselling novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Harvard religious expert Robert Langdon, who once again finds that forces with ancient roots are willing to stop at nothing, even murder, to advance their goals. Ron Howard again directs the film, which is produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and John Calley. The screenplay is by David Koepp and Akiva Goldsman. When Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati - the most powerful underground organization in history - he …

Here is an interesting New Scientist article which points out many of the flaws in the was social policies are foist upon society without rigorous scientific backing, and if tested at all are often tested in a way which says it works, thereby vindicating the policy maker's dream. My missus is a keen photographer and she treated herself to a new digital camera with some lenses just after Christmas, but she's been having problems with it. The main problem is the fact that the auto-focus just zips back and forth without fixing itself on the subject of the picture and she has had no option but to focus manually. I know it was quite a pricey camera and she wa assured it's a good one (Nikon make with 24 megapixels), so it should be reliable. Anyone any ideas? Or should she take it back to Jessops and ask for her money back? Brutus

Quiz 5 http://www.amiannoying.com/(S(guurzxysqpko...zform.aspx?ID=5 Quiz Results Points: 94 Congratulations, you are annoying! Don't feel bad. You fit in the middle of the spectrum. You form your own opinions and you're not afraid to express them honestly. You are pushy, but considerate. You rarely focus on the petty things, but instead the big picture. You can make fun of yourself, but even more importantly, you can make fun of others. You have no neck. Your nose is disproportionate to the rest of your face. Your ears stick out too much. Your feet smell like Indian food... sorry, I'm going off. Team Annoy's Marc advises: "Annoying, this is exactly where you want to b…
