For those who like to take advantage of cheap Trans-Atlantic air fare sales...you had better ensure that you get your ESTA (Electronic System Travel Authorisation), clearance at least 72 hours before you travel. It is free and you can apply on line. As of tomorrow, January 12 2009, the rules change. See the below link for details. http://www.visitusa.org.uk/visitors/esta.aspx Batman27362009-01-11 15:09:35

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/4268675/New-York-plane-crash-Pilot-hailed-as-hero-as-all-155-on-board-safe.html Landing on water is in the 'lap of the Gods', but well done Captain. No doubt the US Press will have had him skimming around the Empire State building, around the UN Building, under three bridges etc etc, they love to exaggerate everything, bit like our press.

Two pieces of good news actually. In reverse order, the first is that I purchased a breadmaking machine today. Regardless of those who may berate me for using a machine, and thus failing to comply with all the masochistic dough pounding and yeast breweing a true homemaker would willing endure, that's what I decided to buy. And, folks, it works!! First go on quick bake, and an almost perfect loaf was duly produced in 1hr and 55 minures. Flavour was just the slightest bit yeasty, but it was pretty good. For those interested, it's a Panasonic, of which brand I hear people speak well, in spite of it's higher cost. Well chuffed. Now for the biggie. For many …

I am a resourcer and when we receive details its apparent the call taker is somewhat flustered and can make typo's and spelling mistakes... I have a couple or corkers that keep me laughing but the latest was a firearms job i was dispatching. The call taker marked up that a male with a gun was shooting at peasants instead of phesants lol ! Also when asking a call taker for more deatils on a desc of a shoplifter from the co-op the call taker typed on the record. "the co - op is s**t" verbatim - I think they ment the co - op is shut lol

I couldn't care a Monkeys ..... where I work as long as I get the job.

I was in hospital just before Christmas with a suspected kidney stone. I had severe pain in my right flank and blood in my urine. I was given an ultrasound of my kidney area two days later, but that showed nothing and, by that time, the pain had moved to my lower abdomen (and had become far less severe). Further tests showed there was still blood in my urine so, just before New Year, I was sent for a CT scan as an out-patient. The Urology Department got my CT result last week but refused to tell me what it showed on the phone. Instead, they sent me an appointment for a "flexible cystoscopy" (a bendy tube containing a camera shoved down a urethra to look into the …
