Just been reading Blackstones and came across S12 of The Licensing Act 1872 which states: "It is an offence for a person to be drunk in charge of an carriage, horse or cattle in any highway or public place;..." So next time you see 'Darren' or 'Wayne' walking down the highstreet, 17 sheets to the wind with a sheep under one arm and a kebab under the other, remember this thread! (apologies to any Darrens or Waynes on the forum, any offence you take was not intended! HAHA)

I thought I'd start a thread for interesting news snippets for items which don't rteally merit a thread of their own. It alsoi means that those who don't want to read links to news clips can avoid this thread. This item is both amusing and horrible at the same time. But it could have been so much worse.M&MBM2009-06-04 15:28:40

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Business/...erdraft_Charges Millions of pounds could eventually be paid back to millions of bank customers when the Supreme Court delivers a judgement on overdraft charges this morning. Keep your fingers crossed, with any luck the banks will be paying out big time. If they find they need more money, they can always run off to the government with a begging bowl. BTW, does anyone still go to a bank looking for financial advice?

I had a new phonetics class this morning and it contained two Chinese students - we get a LOT of Chinese students and they invariably sit next to each other. I introduced myself and said to the one on the left: Me: "..and what's your name?" Chinese Student 1: "Me" Me: "Yes, you." Chinese Student 1: "Me" Me (very slowly and very clearly): "Yes, I'm asking you your name." Student: "Yes, it's Me" Me: "Your name is Me?" Chinese Student 1: "Yes, it's Me" Me: "OK. That's going to get confusing. Do you have any other names?" Chinese Student 1: "Pong" Me: "Your name is Me Pong. You're having a laugh, right?" Chinese Student 1: "No raff". He showed me a boo…

A man dies and goes to heaven , God says you have lived a good life , so i will do something for you , what would you like ? The man says , you could build a bridge from Britain to France , so motorists could just drive to france . God says but that would use all the steel in the world , is there anything else i could do for you ? The man then says well i would like to be able to understand women , what makes them laugh , what makes them cry and such , God says this bridge , do you want a 2 lane or a 4 lane bridge .
