A solution for those who are easily pissed off by cold callers: 1) Answer the call. 2) Be nice and polite 3) show an interest in the product they are selling 4) Possibly take out a quote (OPTIONAL) 5) Make up a bogus excuse and put the sales agent to hold 6) Tell him you'll be back in a second 7) Press the Secrecy/Mute/Hold button 8) Leave the phone off the hook 9) Chuckle with laughter Telesales companies comply with their code of conducts. The sales agents for most companies are not allowed to hang up on customers for set time periods. For eg: A sales agent for one of the major insurance brokers is not allowed to terminate an ongoing phonecall with a potential…

I was In a debate on another site and an interesting point was raised that If you are not able to support children, you should not be allowed to give birth to them. Would you say this was a valid point or do you believe that everyone has a right to reproduce offspring as a human right? We are talking about those who are fully aware that they will not be able to suport their offspring from the outset but still go ahead regardless.Mac 662009-12-07 08:53:50

Each year The Darwin awards are given to those bright sparks that through their own stupidity remove themselves from the gene pool. Strangely enough most of the recipients seem to be American. Here is the 2009 winner: 1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach , California would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. And now, the honorable mentions: 2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine and after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The…

I thought I had seen the last of daft complaints when I left the job. Alas, 'tis not the case. I got a complaint from a Canadian student about an email I sent her about an essay she had written. This is what I said, verbatim: Dear XXX Thanks for your essay - I think it was an excellent piece of work and I enjoyed reading it. Your commentary on Goethe's style was clear and insightful and you extrapolated all the main features of von Berlichingen's characters from the work with mastery and eloquence. Just a couple of small areas which you might want to revise when writing essays in English is the punctuation and, in particular, the need to segregate embedded clause…

This week Jeremy Clarkson, someone who before two days ago I deemed one of the three most irritating men on the planet with James May and Richard Hammond competing for one of the other two slots around him, had submitted an article on the disgusting Peter mandelson for the Times to print. Needless to say they didn't, weather Mandy's PR creatures had anything to do with that decision I've no idea. But here it is, thanks to Wikileaks, a website that is already changing the world slowly but surely : ____ Jeremy Clarkson Sunday Times 15/11/09 I’ve given the matter a great deal of thought all week, and I’m afraid I’ve decided that it’s no good putting Peter Mandelson in a…
