..............I'm going to miss listening to him on the wireless...... In a world where celebrity is given away to any idiot as a prize in a cereal box, he actually has talent and appears to be a genuinely decent person. No pretences, just him. Not everybody's cup of tea, but then not everybody has class and good taste.

An old man lived alone in the country. He wanted to dig his tomato garden, but it was very hard work as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament. Dear Vincent, I am feeling pretty badly because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me. Love, Dad A few days later he received a letter from his son. Dear Dad, Don't dig up that garden. That's where I buried the bodies. Love, Vinnie …

Are conditions like ADHD an excuse for parents who just have naughty kids or an excuse to cover their own bad parental skills ? Do you think it is all too common these days that parents write their kids off all too readily with conditions like this with a label than to maybe face responsibility for their own failings in parental skills or accept that their kids are just plain naughty ? There seems to be an epidemic of parents with kids with this condition !!Mac 662009-12-16 11:31:13

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/north_yorkshire/8411894.stm Firstly let me declare my bias here. My wife is ginger and had a pretty unpleasant time of it when she was a kid. However, it seems to me that cards like the one described must be falling foul of some kind of anti-discrimination law. For a moment imagine that the message on the card was "Santa loves all kids. Even black ones" or "Santa loves all kids. Even muslim ones", or even "Santa loves all kids. Even disabled ones". Can't see them bringing out such a card. I know that ginger people are not a protected minority under the law, but I've seen first hand that they are as likely to be subjected to harassmen…

I 'm usually pretty crap at remembering jokes .... But one or two or even three have stayed within my repertoire for quite a few years now, so may need updating ! One joke that i love ...... and have told in many countries , it really does need no or minimal translation ( you can do the actions ) is this one ......... one of my favourites ; A young Red Indian Brave is sitting around the camp fire on the plains , and asks his Indian Father Chief suddenly ; "Father, why is my brother called setting sun ? " His Father , passes the pipe away from his mouth, smiles and says " On the evening that number 2 son was born , i held my son , and walked out of…

In an initiative lead by Norfolk Constabulary, the UK police service is putting its weight behind the Help For Heroes campaign. Launched by Norfolk's Chief Constable Ian McPherson in July 2009, the first recipients of the metal pin badge were HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Mr McPherson is hoping the initiative will enable the police service nationally to be seen to be behind the men and women who return wounded from active service. The charity has produced a police pin badge designed to be worn with police uniform or work clothes. It is the first official badge that has been produced for police. A 999 metal pin badge that declares the suppo…

I'm snooping round the internet because I'm cotinuing Gladiator School to full sized novel. I found this quite from Juvenal, a satirist Now consider the dangers of night: Tiles fall from the rooftop and crack you on the head; and the drunken hooligan, spoiling for a fight, cannot rest without a brawl. What can you do when a raving madman confronts you? Or tenants throw their broken pots out the window. You're courting disaster if you go to dinner before writing your will." (Juvenal, Satire III)

In light of the recent announcement by BA Staff that they're going to strike at a critical time for their business, and after recent strikes completed by Royal Mail staff, I feel the need to ask what these people hope to achieve by striking? We're in the middle of the worst recession seen for a long time and all companies need to reduce their costs. I cannot understand how people think that by going on strike, they aim to improve their long term prospects? I work part time for the Post Office and the damage to Royal Mail's reputation has been incredible, with many small business taking their premium postage elsewhere. It seems that the Union's opinion was that as th…
