Obviously many people on here are special constables like myself. Being a special is the voluntary work we do. How ever at the same time many of us are looking to join the job full time. Would you consider carrying on some sort of other volunteer work if you did get to join the job full time. If so, what would you like to do? Obviously the amount you'd volunteer may vary massively from what you do now. Or are there any regulars who do volunteer work out there. Personally I think I'd quite enjoy doing something, though I'm not sure what exactly.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00y5j3s They arrive, they smoke, they wait - armed robbers seeking redemption, life-long thieves, addicts and anxious fathers of wayward children. Hard exteriors hide soft centres, old lives exist in young bodies - ordinary people awaiting judgement on an unlovely stretch of pavement outside a London magistrates' court. Looks a good program

Just want to introduce myself and say hi to everyone here at this forum. I’m working as a police officer in Rotterdam Southside 10th district in The Netherlands for about 15 years now. Since four years I'm a member of the Riot Police Squad. In this squad I became a teargas specialist. Also, in this same year, I became an actor and guest docent of the Dutch Police Academy. I'm also a member of a Bike team (Bike Patrol) Also I'm the coordinator of the ANPR controles in my team. So you can see I'm very busy for a Dutch cop. In my spare time I do K9 training, biking, karate, fitness, video and photo editing, patch-, batch and tie pin collecting and I like to …

"Millions of teachers, nurses and policemen could be asked to disclose their sexuality, religion and race as part of a new Coalition equality drive. Lib Dem equalities minister Lynne Featherstone says all public sector organisations should consider sending ‘diversity monitoring forms’ to staff to prove they are treating all sections of society fairly. From April, public bodies will be subject to the Equality Act – passed by Labour but taken up enthusiastically by the Coalition – which will force them to consider the impact of everything they do on the diversity of the people they serve or employ. Miss Featherstone supports sending staff a questionnaire about their sexua…
